Typical American traveler who was blown away by the size of the rooms. Great location to tour the city and you'll want to do plenty of touring as you can't move in the rooms. 100% not a hotel you want share a room with somebody you're not intimate with. First problem is the glass showers to the room with no curtains. Yikes. DO NOT SHARE a room here with a business partner. That'd be quite the problem. Also hotel is not very clean. It'd be one thing to have intimate rooms in downtown Hong Kong that were very well taken care of. Immediately upon leaving elevator I noticed beat up walls with wallpaper falling off. It was a preview of things to come.
Nightlife Tip:
VERY near Soho and Lan Kwai Fong. Cap is pretty much 20HK to anywhere worth getting a drink/dinner.

hotel was ok... but even for HK's high pricing for small rooms we were a little taken aback.
the room was small, of course, that we expected. but the first room we were put in had pretty bad water damage and the furniture aside from the bed was pretty beat up and shabby.
the hotel staff did move us to a room on a higher floor, supposedly executive rooms but the new room they gave us was exactly the same less the water damage and mold growing on the carpet.
look, this was by no means a 4 star hotel, but for the price, and on the island, and with its location it wasn't terrible for a few nights stay.
would i stay there again... yes, but only if the other hotels in the price range and area were all booked up.

This is not a 4* hotel at all. It is run down and old. If anything it is a 2.5* or 3*.
Shower curtains smelled sour from dampness, and everything is just pretty dirty. The lobby is nice, but once you step on to a floor you can feel the aging of the hotel. I had to complain about my first room due to dirtiness, before they bumped me up to a second (worse) room with stale air and once again, dirty, then they finally caved and gave me a executive suite, which was also very very aged.
Was expecting MUCH more from a hotel rated 4*. Very disappointed with this one. Thank god I got it on one of the last minute discounts.

Lovely neighborhood, nice service

The hotel is in a surprisingly nice part of Sheung Wan with many cute cafes and galleries surrounding it. It's also very close to the metro and only a 10 minute walk down Hollywood Rd. to the busier part with more nightlife. Inside the hotel, the rooms are clean enough, though the facilities and amenities are not the greatest. For the price, though, it is worth it.

Small rooms, good for just sleeping

This hotel is little more than a hostel. I'm not sure why the reviews were so good. There was hot water, beds, wifi and not much else. It's perfectly fine for sleeping for one night but it is to a luxury hotel.
Restaurant Tip:
Yardbird was my favorite on this trip!

Butterfly is situated near Sheung Wan area, which is very close to all the happening places in Hong Kong. Walking distance to MTR stations and Central (Soho).
The hotel is clean and all, but rooms a bit small. Not surprised considering the location but affordable prices. The AC in the room couldn't really get the temperature we wanted. It was not cold enough.
