Basic boutique hotel in Causeway Bay

Pros: very central, easy to access all areas of Hong Kong island, good value for money, free internet Cons: no cafe or coffee shops nearby so it was hard getting a on-the-go / Western style breakfast and coffee. There were a couple of Hong Kong restaurants serving breakfast in the vicinity though. My non-smoking room smelled of smoke initially and was quite nasty.

don't be surprise if you are welcomed by an african while you are checking in hong kong hotel. though, they are friendly. the hotel is clean but small as expected with this price that we can get in hong kong. i prefer the room in 16 floor as it's just renovated. the location is very good and convenient for shopping. it located very near to mrt station. you will definitely like it if you are a backpacker. but if you are traveling with bags and luggage, you will find difficulty.

Strategic and easily accessible location
Carlton room is clean and with reliable hot and cold shower system. It is a few step away from line A21 of the City Bus and from Tsim Sha Tsui Mass Transit Railway.

the room we stayed is clean and well kept. the rest room is a bit compact ( about 1 meter x 1 meter floor area only). there is little space to shower in the rest room that you have to pull down the cover of the toilet bowl to avoid dropping accidentally the soap and shampoo inside the bowl.
the room we stayed has no fire exit ladder from the window. fire escape is through the hallway towards the exit near the elevator. hence, if you are checked-in at the far end room of the hallway and the building caught fire, you will be trapped. no fire extinguisher in the room and along the hallway.
going to flat c, 15th floor of the chung king building where carlton guest house is located, one has to pass all the way the far end of the building from the entrance to the elevator. along the way are a number of electronic stalls and bombay and black colored traders who offer visitors rooms, cell sim cards, etc. nonetheless, it is a safe place.
the nice thing about the hotel is its location. avenue of the stars, space museum, st andrew's church, kowloon park, mcdonald stores, mtr and city bus stations, parklane shopping mallare within walking distance from the hotel building.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
ocean park is a few minute from the hotel via mtr. mtr fare is only hk $9.00. ocean park will be enjoyed by both young and the adults.
disneyland is just for the kids. admission fee to the park is very expensive at hk$399.00. visiting the park does not worth the cost. also food inside the park is very expensive.

the location of the hotel was good but the room is very small.no cups and packets coffee or bottled drinking water provided.no bathtub or swimming pool.easy to get public transport.5 minutes walk to mtr station and bus stops.very convenient to get bus to airport (airport express, don't have to take taxi or train).easy to travel around.the lift to the room (15th floor) is very small (max 5 person).unable to find hawker food near by.only fast food available.many shopping malls, shops and souvenir shops near by.the customer service of the hotel is helpful and friendly.many foreigner at ground level (1st floor).not suitable for family.toutters are seen many at the lobby.creating a very unsecure and not a safe environment .beware of them.

The featured rooms is not true. The room is very small that we have to walk side way. No space to place the bags except under the bed. On the 3rd night we requested for a new sheet but the reply is negative. They only will change beddings upon check out or for the new guest. The blanket (warmer) is not comfortable. They just inserted another cloth in it which will dislocate upon use. Will not recommend the place
Hotel Feature Tip:
When you want to stay near Tsin sha Tsui for lesser cost, better book at a 3 star hotel. A few dollar difference but the comfort is priceless.
