Good location, cheap
Has the basic things you need in a room, clean, cheap, good location, friendly staff, good service, free coffee and use of common microwave
7.7
The room is small but has basic things you need in a room. It is more of a hostel. Room is not big enough to fit a huge luggage if you have one. For the price you pay for the room, I think it is just ok. Location is good because there are a lot of surrounding malls and establishments . Public commute is easy. No breakfast is included in the hotel price.
The 'hotel' is located on the 10th floor in a building where other small hotels are also located. The entrance or ground floor of the building is not classy, and has a lot of small stalls or stores where people hangout. Mostly Indians are scattered in the ground floor but everyone we encountered are friendly. Television has limited channels. They got good and fast service.
Travel tip:
Rooms are not soundproofed and if you are located near the reception area, you will hear a lot of noise. Turn your aircon on or wear earplugs to drown out noise.

When I checked in, the room wasn't cleaned, or if it had bee cleaned, was cleaned in a hurry. One of the caretakers quickly made the bed and brought in a couple of fresh towels/travel necessities which was a nice touch.
I was not in the day's hotel, it was in Paris Hotel. 4 or 5 of the hotels in Chungking mansions are run from one office, and all of them looked to be about the same in cleanliness.
Pros: very cheap, single room, close to MTR stations and shopping. At checkin, receptionist was nice. Also WIFI connection was stable.
Lots of long hairs on the bed and in the bathroom. Shower hot water heater worked for only about 1 minute if the shower is kept on low pressure. Bed itself was very hard. Toilet leaked and wouldn't flush very well.
Also, waiting for the lift (elevator) is troublesome. I stayed on the 7th floor, so if the lift filled upcoming down from top to bottom beforehand, I had to wait. If you stay on a higher floor, There is less likelihood of this happening.
For what I paid, I would stay again. Otherwise, if you want a nice room on a budget, this is not the place for you.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Bring a sleeping bag an shower shoes!!!!

Lodging in a crowded shanty-style town

The rooms are sized to fit a single bed. Yes it's that small. Plus it's on the 10th floor of an overcrowded commercial apartment. Everybody has to wait for the lift.

Great location with complete amenities
Location, Cleanliness, Wi-fi

The receptionist Rowena is very accomodating and has excellent customer service. She is very patient and cheerful making the stay in the hotel not stressful and very relaxing. The room as well has complete amenities from a mini-refrigerator, safe, aircon, hair dryer, heater, towels and toiletries. The only sad thing is the television which has only limited channels but overall, it's very affordable and worth staying in.

Budget hotel convenient for touring Hong Kong
price, interesting neighborhood, convenient to mtr and ferries, post office nearby
7.3
i booked at days hotel because of the price. upon arrival, i was surprised at the number of small shops available on the ground floor. there was a large number of currency exchange shops and the merchants and food stands were predominantly south asian so unless you are used to indian/pakistani/middle eastern food, be careful what you try.
the hotel itself is on the 10th floor and the elevators are small and slow, but you can get to days hotel on both the d and e elevators. better luck on the d elevator.
although the entrance and the lobby are not impressive at all, the rooms appeared to be newly renovated. the walls and bathroom were clean and appeared new. one visitor even said the room was beautiful even though very small.
the neighborhood features many places to shop with upscale stores on nathan road and more night market type places on side streets. for night life, although there are other areas of hong kong with much more to offer, the are two irish pubs. murphy's about 3 doors down from chungking mansions and delaney's on peking road less than 5 minutes away. another 5 minutes to one of the mes amis chain on ashley road. all three of these can be found using google.
when on the street, you will be accosted many times by men trying to sell you clothes or jewelry. just wave them off.
the post office is about 10 minutes south and the ferry, avenue of hong kong stars, science museum and art museum another 10 minutes down to the harbor. the bus or mtr can quickly take you to better shopping areas such as mong kok and the temple street night market.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
A nice day or half day trip is to Stanley on the south side of Hong Kong island. The bus trip is rather long but scenic. There are upscale places but the real treat is the old market where you can just about get lost in the narrow winding alleys.
