The rooms were much better than the photo implied, very clean and quite regal. The service was great. Breakfast was OK, but all in all, the whole experience was great value. We did find a few decent pubs and retaurants around, so that helped a lot, too. In fact I now know more pubs in Happy Valley than anywhere else in Hong Kong!
Deinitely try The Chapel, where they do fantastic indian food - it's good to see beer & curry married again!
Do try the Korean restaurant - good beef and great value. Also they've got two good supermarkets around the corner.
Not much else around, though it's just 15 minutes or so to town and it can be nice to be in a quieter neigheborhood with more pubs!

Well worthwhile as a quiet place or perhaps just a different atmosphere for the weary business traveller.
Travel tip : The Chapel for it beer & curry! And if you are there on a Wedsnesday, take you boarding card to get into the races for free!

Somewhat spacious rooms and a good size bathroom. Basic, clean hotel with very friendly and accommodating staff.
Location may not be ideal, but that depends on where you are going. Happy Valley is more of a residential location, but not too far from Central.
I am a resident of Hong Kong and had a friend visiting so we stayed at the Emperor Hotel for its location. This worked for us, although, Happy Valley is not centrally located. Still, it is walking distance to Causeway Bay and a short taxi ride to Central. The staff was most helpful and very friendly. The breakfast was OK...a small room for this size of a hotel. Overall, the room was big enough and everything was clean. There was no gym or pool, so if you are looking for that, find another hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The Happy Valley racecourse is walking distance. You can run around the track during the day or see the races on Wednesday nights. There are some good restaurants in Happy Valley as well. you can take the tram to Causeway Bay quite easily.

Cheap and respectable lodging for an upscale and vibrant neightborhood of Happy Valley where there is good food, good night life and every amenity.
Rooms quite small even by HK standards and showing a bit of wear but still acceptable
The Emperor Hotel in Happy Valley is an excellent location for a traveller who wants to just step out the door and have good food with variety, a good pub scene and a vibrant night life. The Hotel is definately for the regional taste catering to the China traveller, that said they are quite accomidating and the staff's English is acceptable by HK standards
Restaurant Tip : shop around for good eats they are everywhere within 3 blocks of the hotel
