Locwly location for leisure traveler
A nice hotel in a somewhat out of the way location for business traveler, not near MTR. Well priced breakfast.

Although they do have one way shuttle buses in the morning and late afternoons, if you need to get anywhere at other times involves calling taxis and buses. There is a tram that is about 5 minute walk to get you to Causeway Bay MTR stop. It is a very hilly area however, so it is a steep climb. Has a lovely view of the mountain behind the hotel. Staff is very helpful.
Mold on caulking in the tub, and low water pressure in my bathroom.
Well priced breakfast if you purchase vouchers at the time of registration.

Great service & room size plus convenient location

Had a great stay here. The room was a good size even with a cot (which I was glad to see was already in the room when we arrived tired at 2am) and there was a great window alcove which we used as a dining area while our child had his daytime nap! Convenient to get around. When taking a taxi back to the hotel, you can tell them to go to the infirmary as quite often the taxi driver didn't know the Emperor Hotel (or didn't understand my accent!). Front desk was helpful and they let us check out 1.5 hours late at no charge which was much appreciated. The only things I didn't like was the large deposit required on the room upon arrival and the costly breakfast (HKD per person seemed a bit much on top of the room price).
Restaurant Tip:
There are a few restaurants a few streets away which serve breakfast. We had one for 100HKD for two of us. Or there are a few bakeries, delis and a great cooked meat place (the ones wth cooked pork and duck hanging up in the window) for cheap, on-the-go eats. However, I regret not going to the Dimsum restaurant in the hotel; always lots of locals going there so must have been good!

located right down the street from the famed happy valley racecourse - so easy to walk back to hotel afterward. the hotels in house diner/cafe is very nice with good buffet breakfast. just in case, also conveniently located right across the street from good hospital. very nice, helpful bi-lingual staff that did their best to accommodate all needs. clean rooms.

Clean and Decent Hotel
A good location and easy access to the downtown with reasonable price.

The location is very good with calm and quiet enviroment. Shops and resturants are nearby with walking distance and there are lot of choices. Couple of minutes to downtown by various means of transportation including bus and taxi. The room is clean and decent and the resturant inside the Hotel is very good.

Lovely hotel at a fair price

I found this hotel after leaving a previously bugs infested hotel. This one was clearly a winner. They made accommodation for me to check in at 6am with an extra fee, and hotel staff spoke good English. It is conveniently located - close enough to the city, near the tram stop, yet not overcrowded and could allow me a nice stroll to reach the shopping malls. When I entered the room, it had a homely touch and had very cosy rooms. Unlike all the other hotels in this city, Happy Valley has beautifully made rooms, a balcony, clean bathroom facilities, and efforts to promote an environmentally friendly surrounding (which is rare here!).
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Tram stop that takes you for a good day/night view of the island at a cheap fare.

The hotel rooms were very small. Got misguided looking at the pictures they show. Extremely rude staff at the reception .. U ask for directions and the only answer we get is" the best way to go is by cab". Whereas we found all our ways through MTR. Whenever u ask for something they answer as if they are doing a favour. Had gone there with my mom and would not recomend anyone to go with their family. I found the room very small so went to the reception to speak abt it and the answer I get is "sir u get what u pay for".forget the service with a smile. Stayed tere for 5 nights thankfully we went there only to sleep for a few hours to sleep at night. Location was quite centrally located.beds extremely small and the moment u turn , u on the floor.overall a below average hotel and extremely very rude staff at the reception. They do not deserve to be in this service industry .. Rather the should sell fish on the roads .. Suits them better
