staff were very helpful with regard to directions, to organising taxis, transport to airport and advice re transport - eg, taxi same price as the airport shuttle bus and quicker. we arrived via airport express train and taxi, but departed by taxi ( approx pp). wanchai metro station approx 150 metres, and tram 50 metres from hotel so excellent transport options. hotel buffet breakfast fair and unvarying, with poor coffee and reconsituted fruit juice; but excellent italian cafe and providore "il bel paese" 30 metres from hotel in hennessy rd which sold freshly squeesed orange juice and very good coffee. room small but good comfortable qs bed and good airconditioning. compact bathroom was well appointed with plugs that worked, also shower and bath.'city view' was of back courtyard and some dismal highrise and medium rise dwellings. guest lounge had very good ambience, food and beverage options, free wiifi.
Restaurant Tip:
Funky french bohemian restaurant "Le Marron", BYO wine and very good food. Address: 12F Ying Kwong Building, 2-6 Yee Wo St CWB HK.
Excellent chinese restaurant at the Peak tower Level 2 : Tien Yi
The pawn, Johnston St, near hotel is good but with loud music, English food and good selection of wines
Very unimpressed with our tailor off Nathan Rd, Golden Crown Building. Caveat emptor!

Great Location Great Vibe

I have stayed at this hotel many time and have found the staff very friendly and willing to go out of there way to help. If you dont have a credit card you need to pay them a $1000HK deposit which is returned when you check out.
Hotel Feature Tip:
One benifit of staying at this hotel is that you can get the Airport Express train to Hong Kong Central and then there is a free bus that leave every 20 min that will drop you off at the Empire Hotel door. Bus will take to Airport check in.

One of the great things about this hotel is that it is one of the stops for the free shuttle from the HK MTR Central Station, where you come in on the Airport Express train. Excellent location, smart and courteous service, comfortable (and larger for HK) rooms.
Only complaint is the VERY slow Internet connection in the rooms. Be sure to ask the front desk for a free USB cellular device for faster connections.

i stay regularly at the empire - it is my standard business hotel in hk. it is reasonably priced for hk. it is nothing special and i would avoid their food. you get a basic room and it is clean. the best part is the location. so it is fine for business travel. i would not stay there for romance or sightseeing.

overall was very satisfied with the hotel and its services. the room is a bit small for family with 2 kids. but the bed is king sized and well accommodate for all 4 of us. wan chai mtr is walking distance and in front hotel there's 7-eleven.
