Decent hotel in the heart of Wanchai
Close to MTR, bars, nightclubs
6.3
I have stayed in this hotel couple of time. The key is the location of Empire hotel. It is close to everything what a traveller needs - foodjoints, bars, shopping, MTR. Rooms are ok as per HK standards (small). Only problem seems to be underperforming staff. They are ot fluent in English and the responses to any requests are very late. Also, this hotel is currently under rennovation till Aug 2010.

As stated during my last stay, the construction was an issue - I could hear drilling during the daytime (i only extended because of convenience and that because work was finished). Additionally, I had to ask for a travel plug 4 times before I was called in my room and asked,"you ordered a travel plug right? I'll ask for you now" The staff were clearly under more pressure than I've seen them during the past 15+ times I've stayed at the Empire and their ability to cope was tested and as such I have mixed feelings; one one hand the concierge really upped their game and were a pleasure to deal with, on the other hand, housekeeping was a joke.
The experience was generally frustrating, but I'll still be staying again; I've had far too many good experiences to be put off. Their pool on the roof is still great although I didn't use it on this occasion because of the weather.

this hotel have great location, easy to access other shopping center, ferry, which also has good chinese restaurant at L2. some pub have lots of world cup fans, little noisy. The room is little small and the facility is out of date. Generally, the price is worthful.
Hotel Feature Tip:
look like old version wireless is not be supportted by hotel's router, I saw many case fail to access WIFI at lobby but their setting is correct.

I always stay at either the Wharney or the Empire in WanChi because they're generally decent and offer value - not this time. No one mentioned when i was booking about the construction work and as such the hotel experience was sub standard. Had I have known about the construction work, I would not have stayed here this time.

Not ready for Prime Time
- Relatively cheap
- Somewhat convenient location (Between Wan Chai and Admiral)
- Lots of places to eat around there
4.7
I arrived in Hong Kong a day before my wife. I wanted to find a place that was close to the MTR and relatively inexpensive. I was fine staying there on my own for the price. However, I didn't think t was a good place when my wife arrived.
The street next to the hotel is full of GoGo bars. Great, if that's your thing. I would not recommend the location for families. However, to be fair, you don't see much during the day. But if you come back n the evening with your family, that's another story. The hotel is still under a mush needed renovation. I can't see them finishing this renovation for at least a year (Hopefully in phases) There are better hotels for the price.

First time stay in this hotel. Rooms are quite small and there isn't any sofar inside the room. My ain is to be near to exhibition hall so that I can walk over easily and I got my target. MTR was a little far, well it stillk within walking distance but if you had just done your shopping, then you will starts to say that it is too far. Overall, it ok for me.

Empire Hotel Review May 2010
Location, staff, value for money
7.3
A good choice of hotel for location and value for money. Enjoyed the stay there and would book again next time in Hong Kong. Rooms a bit small and in need of renovatation.
Nightlife Tip:
Amazonia - Live music from a great band
