old hotel with ugly rooms
7
when we arrivaled this hotel room, i was totally disappointed, i understand that hongkong hotels are very pricy and the value for this hotel is considered good with where it is-central hongkong. anyway, the room is too small and the shower is very old, it make me feel down overall.
Shopping Tip:
hongkong is konwn as a shopping heaven, certainly need to go around and do some shopping

service lousy!!!!
This hotel location is good if you are going for exhibition. Not much of nice food or street food around this area
3.7
This hotel services is damn poor! I check in and within 5 mins the room black out! the fault is the kettle. it takes them more than 45mins to switch back the lights n aircons. Just imagine a room without aircon and can't open the windows, how stuffy and hot it is! we were hungry and tired, but can't step out for dinner or have our bath! The guy that came in to check still have a guts to tell the colleague that we are making alot of noise! we waited 15 mins before they attend to us and after that said will be back in 5mins, but that 5 mins stretch to more than 20 mins, of course I am piss off!seems like they like ppl to get angry than they will do something!

Just What We Needed
It's all about three things: Location, Location, Location. (but the pool is a nice perk too.)
7.3
The long and short of it is that we, like many others, were in HK for business and the Empire was a perfect fit for our needs. I've stayed in Kowloon before and there's no comparison... being in Wanchai just makes it so easy to be where you need to be without hassles.
The Convention Center is a three minute walk - you just can't beat that convenience. If you need to get anywhere else, the Wanchai metro stop is just one block away (and the HK metro rocks!). There are also plenty of food options for Westerners right downstairs - which you'll come to appreciate after a day or two.
As for the rest, it's like all the HK hotels I've stayed at - clean, efficient, professional, and of course small rooms. (Honestly, they're not so small for HK.) There's a pool and a little gym which are nice bonuses too.
Other reviews I read mention the Red Light District as if it were the dark seedy underbelly of Hong Kong. Whatever... Coming form a New Yorker, unless you're a total prude and the mere sight of scantily clad women sends a shutter down your spine, there's absolutely nothing to worry about in Wanchai. It's safe as could be. No pickpockets, no junkies,no scammers no thugs. Just some ladies trying to make a living. If you don't want what their selling, you just walk on and that's that.
Restaurant Tip:
Try the Flying Pan for breakfast. It's across the street on Lockhart, one block down, 3rd floor.

nice stay in general
Nice location, friendly staff and clean environment. With the rate like this, it's great to have breakfast.
8.3
Location is nice that you can take bus All to and from airport and is close to the metro and bus station which is convenient for the tourist. Staff are friendly and the room is clean. Gym is small but it's ok to have 1 hour of workout like jogging. I didn't use swimming pool because it's really really small but it doesn't bother me and I'll go back again with the price like this including breakfast which is fantastic.

The Empire in Wan Chai has been renovated over the years. The furnishing are now quite modern and very functional. I also found the condition in my room to be very well maintained and clean.
My standard room was not that big, but the space was still more than adequate for a short stay.
From my experience the staff is very attentive, especially at the front desk.
The quality of the kitchen is an unknown. My only experience at the dining faciliites was for breakfast. The breakfast selection was minimal, but the quality was good. The staff kept replenishing the trays.
Overall the Empire Wan Chai was vey good value for the money. I would stay there again.
Travel tip:
When booking Empire for the Island side of HKG, remember there's also an Empire in Causeway Bay.

Perfect location if you are in town just for the weekend. In the heart of Wan Chai with bars, bars, bars all around you.
Rooms aint to big but they do the job for the price. Hotel staff are great and very helpful with all your needs.
They also dont care if you bring back guests.
Nightlife Tip:
Get down to Neptunes

Satisfactory stay @ Empire Hotel
Great location: 5 minute walk to Wanchai MTR station
Great value
8.7
Stayed at the Empire Hotel for 2 nights, quite satisified with everything. I used to live in the Wanchai area and knew exactly where the hotel is located- very convenient, 5 minute walk to Wanchai MTR station, abundant supply of taxis on Lockhart Road, many bars and restaurants around the block. Great value for money, will definitely stay there again when I next travel back to HK.

Hotel location was great - only 5mins to central via taxi. A lot of fun bars in the area as well. Service was excellent with front desk staff particularly helpful in giving directions and recommending restaurants. Definitely will come back !

Great location
Great location - 5 mins walk from Wan Chai MTR. If you don't mind walking up to 30mins, the following are all possible: Causeway Bay, Star Ferry port, Central, Times Sq. Restaurants & bars all nearby.
Comfortable rooms - clean and well maintained.
8.3
Great location for sightseeing, shopping, bars and restaurants. Would suit most kinds of travellers - families, friends, couples.
It is located amongst the busy nightspots of Wan Chai, so may be very noisy if you are on lower floors. I could faintly hear the revellers on street level, but it did not disrupt my sleep.
Very good value for B&B overall.
