Great location but small rooms
Central location in the bustling Causeway Bay shopping district, with easy access by taxi, MTR and other public transport to most parts of Hong Kong island

The hotel is perfectly pleasant and comfortable, although I was expecting a bit more style and elegance from a hotel owned and operated by the Mandarin Oriental group. Although there was a Harbour View, the views from Central and across the harbour from the Kowloon side are far superior.

loved the location of this hotel, only 2 - 10 mins walk to ikea, wellcome supermarket, causeway bay mtr station, sogo and times square.
loved the hotel room, they upgraded us to full harbor view. concierge was very helpful with restaurant reservations, addresses of stores and other inquiries i had, check in was very organized with a queuing system. the only con was the price was a bit expensive, but the convenience was worth it in the end.
chinese restaurant was under renovation so we couldn't try it out but there were plenty of restaurants around the area so it wasn't a problem.
Was so glad that we bought tickets to Ocean Park in the Hotel!! when we got to ocean park, the queue would have taken us an hour to get through to buy tickets. instead, we just walked straight in the park with our pre-bought tickets =)
Travel tip:
book your restaurant in advance, especially Yung Kee in Wellington st., Central to avoid long queues that often take up to an hour or more.
also buy tickets to Ocean park from the concierge to avoid the super long queue when you get to ocean park.
if there are 2-4 people in your travelling group, it's better to get a taxi from Hong Kong Station to excelsior which takes around 35 HKD and only 10-15 mins ride, as opposed to the Free hotel shuttle which was free, but took us 1 hour to reach the hotel.
same with going to Ocean park. if there are 2-4 ppl, it is worth it to get a taxi which only takes 15 mins or 40HKD from excelsior rather than taking the MTR to Admiralty (arnd HKD5 per person) and then queuing up for the bus ride (around HKD10 per person) to Ocean park.

stayed in this hotel several times before and i noticed it has been renovated recently. requested for room upgrade upon checking in and was courteously given a nice suite with a beautiful harbor view, the room was very nice and comfortable and it has all the amenities needed. the location of the hotel is great as you can have shopping; food and public transportation right from stepping out of the hotel door.

Clean, goos size room, and amazing location

We only stayed here for one night, and found the hotel to be more than adequate. The rooms are clean, and large - we upgraded to get an Executive room and breakfast, which worked out to be the same price as two breakfasts, so seemed like a great deal.
The hotel's not as new (or as cheap) as some, but still very nice.

A seaview and high floor room was arranged. The sunset seaview was very beautiful.Of course, the night scene of Kowloon was also unforgettable. We were enjoy the stay.

Great location but small rooms

When we first arrived, we were struggling with our suitcases up the stairs.. and no one came to help us in to the lobby. That didn't give us a great first impression of the hotel.
Our room was small but that is pretty standard for Hong Kong hotels.
The location for the Excelsior is great, as right outside you'll find all sorts of shopping and restaurants. Makes up for the smallish rooms and the non-existent service.
