Pretty good hotel at decent location

the hotel is at causeway bay, right next to the tin hua station. turns out causeway bay is not that interesting a place to stay - there's more places of interest at central or in kowloon, but this is somewhat offset by the high quality of the hk transportation system. the hotel itself is pretty modern with clean rooms, bathrooms, etc. the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. and the breakfast was pretty good. no omelets to order or pancakes, but a good selection of chinese (basic dim sum, noodles, sticky rice, etc.) and western breakfast items (eggs, bacon, sausages, toast, cereal, etc.).
on the negative side, the hotel is (as of june 2012) next to a construction site, so there was nonstop banging. the pool (small) is on the roof, which would have been nice were it not for said construction. also, the tv programming is very lame - basically chinese channels and national geographic. i was all excited to watch wimbledon at night, but the very popular star sports was not part of the programming. also, wifi is only available in the lobby, which is itself quite minimal and not necessarily a pleasant place to hang out.
notes:
1. the beds are super-hard. we liked it but the kids didn't.
2. we got the hotel at a substantial discount so it was ok for the price we paid, but not really somewhere we would go back to, given other options
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
take the ferry ride, daytime or nighttime, to tst - really fantastic views. similarly, take the tram to victoria peak daytime or night-time, and the walk around the peak, for amazing views. get an octopus card upon arrival to facilitate transportation - it's useful everywhere and you can redeem unused points at airport prior to departure. truly fantastic.

the doorman and staff at the counter weren't the friendlist people around but then again most people in hongkong seemed to be like that, all talk and work, no extra words of unecessity.
The boiler looked somewhat toxic rusted and all, but the complimentary bottles of water sort of made up for it
Toilets were okay rooms were very decently sized for a place like hongkong

l'hotel has a great location, across the road from the tin hau railway station, which takes advantage of hong kongs'fabulous public transport system. the rooms are medium in size, clean and very well appointed, sound proof against the busy road, and our room had spectatular views of causeway bay. within a 2 minute walk we had a supermarket, pharmacy, fresh bakery, greengrocers, and "restaurant row". we also took advantage of the roof top pool.
the only thing missing (and maybe this is common in hong kong)was a self service laundry/iron either in the hotel or surrounding area. laundry service per item was available in the hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Make sure to buy an Octopus Card at the airport, to use on all public trains, buses and ferries. The card is redeemable at the airport for any outstanding balance when you leave the country.

Stayed at L'hotel Causeway Bay for 5 nights, it was an awesome experience!! Spacious hotel, 2 min walk to Tin Hau restaurant, attentive staff and most importantly the fabulous Dim Sum restaurant across the road (next to MTR station, there's a newspaper stall next to the restaurant entrance). Would recommend this hotel to anyone who spend a lot of time exploring HK and Kowloon areas. Oh yes, Ding Ding tram stop is just in front of the hotel too.

The hotel is very accessible to everything. The MTR is just across the street, there's a bus stop in front, and several convenience stores are scattered around the area. We had free buffet breakfast and the food is superb. The only minus about it is that they do not have carpeted floors and the bathtub is too narrow in such a way that the shower curtain sticks to the body when taking a bath.

The location of the hotel is very good right across the mtr tin hau station (one stop away from MTR: Causeway Bay) so it is a very good advantage. The rooms are spacious,clean and with a very good view of the hongkong skyline. overall value for money hotel and will stay again.The staff are very polite and the free internet in the room was impeccable

This hotel is right across from the subway station so if you need to get to anyplace quick in Hong Kong, this is the hotel for you. Don't think there are any hotels in Hong Kong which is as close to the subway as this one !
Lots of restaurants within a 5 minute walk.
Rooms are large compared to most hotels in this price range, however, if you like looking at a CRT TV, this is the place for you.
The in-room coffee and other accessories provided by this hotel are cheap which you would expect better from a 4 star hotel
