All the Chunkking Mansions are converted flats

Budget Hotel, New China, Yan Yan and New Yan Yan over 3 flats in 2 blocks. One of the larger hostels in Chung King Mansions. Free Hot Drinking Water machine, and cold bottles in fridge. The owner is a nice and helpful man. Baggage can be left before check-in and after check-out. All the rooms are quite small, often with small ensuite shower very close to the toilet, but this is common in Asia and Middle East. The lifts are inadequate, sometimes queing. 2 lifts to each block, alternate floors, so to get down sometimes used stair to lower floor. If you can't find the lifts ask security desk. Ground floor is busy, many small shop units, also Purity Laundry very handy at back right. Also many take-away cafes, and a few with seating, around outer corridor. Beware all the hawkers at front entrance, fake rolex and tailors etc.
Restaurant Tip:
Try the first floor shops and restaurants - they are upstairs only - from ground floor or outside. Quiter and more relaxed, Indian and Chinese food, cheap and like home cooking, or just for a cup of tea, check around the outer corridor. iSquare Mall, and McDo just over road. Next door up escalators to Cafe de Coral Chinese fast food good.

Simplified check-in check out system, and they have Wifi! value for money and at the heart of a shopping district!
Only thing bad is a single lift is shared for about 12-14levels. Waits for the lifts are terrible as it can only fit 7people at a time, plus there were renovations of sort so the wait was terribly long.
Though squeezy, quite comfy. Got a fan and air-con in the room.
Shopping Tip:
Many currency exchange shops downstairs so no worries if you have not enough HKD. Highest rate I saw was 6.33HKD to 1SGD.
If you can, bring a friend that can speak can cantonese, or a local to help you around. Bargaining (especially lady's market) and getting to places will be easier

An average but clean guesthouse

The lift to the guesthouse was very small and so were the walkways in the guesthouse, but it was an okay experience. Although it was hard to locate as it was in the middle of Chung King mansions, we met up with a phillipino lady who worked for the guesthouse, and she kindly brought us to our rooms. The room was very small and so were the toilets. It is a good place for sleeping only and if you are a person looking for spaciousness, this is definitely not what you want. But overall, a great value for money.

The room is tidy and very close to crowd. If you want a short stay, it will be great! However, Chung King Mansion currently has so many strangers and therefore you may need to keep your own belongings in a secure situation.

great place for a short stay but it is quite troublesome to check in and the lift is small . The room is clean but small. Nice place to stay. Worth the money .

You get what you pay for, hotel is really just for a space to sleep, nothing else. you would not feel comfy to stay in teh room. It is more like storage room for your things where you can come to sleep. Anyway, location is good.

Great location but jail kind of room
The hotel location is very strategic because it is located in the Harbor City's area so you can just take a walk if you want sightseeing to the harbor, avenue of the star or 1881 Heritage. And you just across the street to get in MRT or bus which can get you to ladies market and so on. The airport bus also passed in front the hotel and you just need to pay 33 HK$ to reach the airport in around 30 minutes. The money changer and phone card shops available in the lobby mansion.

My room is very small and do not has a window at all. It felt like I've been sleeping in the jail for the entire weekend. But after all, the room and bath room is clean and has a hot water. The wi-fi signal is very strong in your room. You could take a mineral water in the lobby too. But, sometimes you must queueing and waiting for 15 minutes for take a lift.
Shopping Tip:
You could buy cheaper souvenir (like key chain, refrigerator magnetic) at the Peak (100 HK$ for 12) despite in the Ladies Market or any market.
