Located near beach so it may be pleasant there in summer. Rooms very basic although bed is good. Very small bathroom. Windows you cannot open. Mediocre restaurant.No free internet. And the worst thing is the distance from the airport, at least 30 minutes by taxi. I do not know why it was advertised as airport area hotel. Nice view from the hotel over the bay. Good point is that it is quiet there and hills and water surround it. If you want a day or two in quiet place then choose it, otherwise stay in downtown.

-Breakfast included The Silvermine Beach Hotel is a nice getaway not too far from Hong Kong and priced right. It is just a 30 minute ferry ride from HK and also easily accessible from mainland China (e.g. Shenzhen). While nothing to write home about, the included daily breakfast is a nice option and the staff are helpful and friendly. The weather was cold and rainy during our Lunar New Year week but that is hardly their fault and we have stayed here when the weather was delightful. All in all, a nice spot and a good value.

Rooms need upgrading, HKD100 to use wifi for 24 hours. Overall the hotel is about 3 star, it is nice and quiet and right on the beach. Hotel condition is dated and in need of upgrading but it is fairly clean and staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are small and need to pay HKD100 to use wifi or else buy a drink in the lounge to use the common computer. I was there in winter and it was cold and miserable but I'd say it's lovely in summer/spring time. Ferry to Central (HK) is 5-10 mins walk away and goes about twice every hour and only take 25 mins right to the Central Piers. Nice place to chill out for one or two nights if you have spent a few nights already in the city. Easy access to the many hikes and hill walks on Lantau Island and easy to get to the Big Buddha and airport.
Restaurant Tip : there's a nice italian down at the ferry pier and a mac donald's!
