Tranquil setting.Value for money.

None really. If I have to suggest something- it would have been nice to have coffee sachets in the room too as a choice... not just tea.

The Hotel is beautifully situated on the beach and only a few minutes work from the Ferry and Bus terminals. If you want to get to the airport too- it's only two short and easy bus trips away if the direct buses are too early for you (which could save you time and money). It's a nice Hotel to stay a few days on your way to or from the Airport or longer if you want a peaceful beach holiday too. You can also use the buses with ease to do all the Island's tourist attractions too! Get a timetable form any Tourist Information Office... If you need the City it is only approx. 20 minutes by ferry to Hong Kong Island. It is quiet and peaceful (which feels so calm that it is almost unreal) and this provides a great balance/contrast to the vibrancy of Kowloon and Hong Kong Island. Highly recommended- especially when we visited in January (which is low season/excellent value... which all added to the ease). Breakfast choice was good, and although there are coments about the price of meals... as a resident, the discount provided made it comparable to the other tourist choices... and you can try a lot of more "local" eateries near the harbour- only minutes away.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : See comments above regarding excellent bus services which are cheap and reliable for trips to and from the airport, and for sightseeing too. Really easy and timetables make it simple too. Operated tours are okay but you can choose how long to stay and where to stay if you go by bus... which makes any tour more personal and suited to you!

the filipina crew at the restaurants were accommodating.

There was no elevator or someone to help carry the luggages, the chinese supervisor in the restaurant was not accommodating. Location of the hotel is very far from the city proper. The family room is not sufficient for 5 members.

The second time il plan to travel to hongkong, i would choose a hotel that is nearer in the city proper. Silvermine beach hotel is not suitable for families who wanted to bring their kids to the amusement parks in hongkong.

Clean, easily accessible, helpful staff

None

The hotel is located near the ferry terminal and the bus terminal which has buses to go to all important location and also to the airpot. Hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful providing us with information about all we wanted to know. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Not expensive for the price we are paying which also includes breakfast. But it was quite sad that the swimming pool was under under renovation. But this means that future guest will have a better pool to look forward to :)

Restaurant Tip : Hotel staff introduced us to a restaurant called ROME (luo ma can ting) that is near the bus terminal. About 10mins walk from hotel. Food there is good and affordable :) Express buses to airport dont come very often. Be sure to check schedule

Nice walks and scenic views in the surrounding area... a "small town" feel.

The hotel (all areas!) needs updating... and it's NOT any more convenient to the airport than hotels in the city.

The Silvermine Beach Hotel was further from the airport than I expected and the taxi ride was not cheap by H.K. standards ($20. each way). The standard rooms were outdated and a bit shabby for the price. If you want to get away from the city feel, but still be close for visits, then this hotel is in a good location, since it is located in a relatively quiet sea-side village.

Hotel Feature Tip : If you're on a budget, you can get a bus to the airport, but you need time to accommodate the bus schedule/connections.

the staff where the best part they where excelent , very helpfull , and polite , plus being right next to a sandy beach was great made you feel as if you lived there .

food was ok but not special , the room was ok but in the bathroom there where leeks and mildew , but otherwise ok

this hotel my fiance and myself only stayed in for one night , i booked online which was easy , the staff at the hotel where friendly , understanding , and considerate , the beach was clean and very plesant , and only 30 ft away from the hotel , very nice area and saroundings , the hotel had a swimming pool which i never had the chance to test out but did look good , the room was adequate , and if i was staying longer it had plenty of cubard space , the bathroom/shower room was ok , bath a bit small for me but the shower was good , the room was clean and tidy , with a double size bed , yes!! i would go back there again , perhaps as a honeymoon for my lady and myself , i would recomend it to others ,

Nightlife Tip : when going by boat to hong kong for a meal or evening out , remember where you parked the boat to get back to hotel , we lost it and ended up on wrong side of bay ~ grins ~ but was fun ,

Nice beach, friendly reception staff, very helpful reception staff

Very dirty, needs renovations, expensive for what it is

I'll start off with the pros. The reception staff are exceptionally helpful, friendly and welcoming. They did a great job. The only problem is the hotel itself is lacking. The first thing I noticed was the stains all over the carpet in the stairwell. My room was really dirty, it looked like no one had ever vacuumed. One of the free toothbrushes had been opened and the plastic seal was missing. There were stains all over the bathroom. My room smelt like musty cigars. The hotel would benefit from some renovations. I wouldn't have minded this if the price was right, however it felt like I paid far too much for what I got. In terms of food there was a good selection of food for the free breakfast buffet. The regular dining and room service was very pricey.

Our room was upgraded to a family room. TV is rather small and far away from the bed. The room was very old and there were stains on the carpet.

TV is too small and far away from the bed. The room was very old and there were stains on the carpet.

Recommend for budget travel and for those who enjoy outdoor activities. Travelers can go to Tung Chung Fashion Outlet easily. Remember to ask for extra bed sheets to cover the blanket before you sleep.

Good location of hotal, it's close to the beach.

Although hotal was fixed up again, but still a bit outdated.

Besides, Silvermind hotel still valuable for couples or family to have a relax trip.

Close to the airport, nice beach, good food, good english,

Carpet was dirty but I survived.

If you are ever in Hong Kong for a layover or your flight gets canceled or you just dont want to deal with the city of Hong Kong, then this is the hotel for you. I kid you not, its not beautiful or new, but it is peaceful and close. The beach is nice and the town is Asian, not westernized. The boat or bus can take you to the city if you need to buy more junk:) N

Hotel Feature Tip : Out of the airport, take the blue taxi. They are the only ones that can take you to the hotel.

right next to the sea

rooms need redecorating

I used this hotel as 30 minutes from the airport. They booked me a taxi for 4am and no problem with check out. The food was very expensive and not special and the room was in need of improvement. I would say you could get a better hotel for the money
