relaxing hotel but difficult taxi access

Biggest drawback about the hotel was arriving late at night without prior warning that taxi's could not reach within 100 yards of the hotel (pedestrian & bicycle access only) & being told by taxi driver to get out with all our luggage (been on a long month business trip so had lots of luggage) to walk up dark alleyway without knowing exactly where the hotel was! Hotel was phoned & sent a person for the luggage (we were charged for this service). If we'd know about this situation we wouldn't have booked this hotel with the amount of luggage we were travelling with. Having said that we enjoyed our stay & it was very peaceful & relaxing.
Hotel Feature Tip:
expect a 100 yard walk to hotel. don't arrive with much luggage or if you do then know that hotel can send staff to help

Hotel with beach front but transportation is bad.

hotel is located at very nice beach front but transportation is rather difficult from airport. only blue colour cabs are allowed in this area.
hotel staff is very helpful and internet connection although is available but is not free. blue cabs from disneyland is difficult to find also.
recommended for those who like quiet place to relax but not recommended for those who likes city life.

i have been staying here for a couple years to get away from business. the breakfast is good, especially if it is bacon day. the pool is nice, good hot shower, nice new carpet.close enough to the ferry pier and right on the beach. close to all hiking trails. flight status is on nice screen in lobby so you can always have an update. service has always been good. always a better deal booking on agoda
Nightlife Tip:
Walk down the path and chill at the bar by the mcdonalds. great time!!

Lovely Hotel with nice views

overall, the appearance hotel is really elegant and the staffs there are really friendly. i am totally satisfying with the service provided. but, don't bring too heavy luggage as hotel doesn't have elevator :)
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Staying here if you want to de-stress yourself. It's a perfect place to go if you want to run away from busy hectic life. But, if you are a shopaholic, maybe it is not your cup of tea. You have to travel all the way down to the centre.

Fantastic setting, friendly staff
The location is superb, straight onto a clean and life-guarded beach and with lovely mountain walks nearby. There are a variety of eating places in the nearby food market, and you can catch a ferry to Hong Kong Central at regular intervals 5 minutes walk away

The rooms are a little basic, but the breakfast was very good and all the staff friendly and helpful. The ferry to Hong Kong Central goes round the clock and takes about 45 minutes maximum. The village and beach are very picturesque.
Travel tip:
Use this hotel as an airport stop-over, for a fraction of the cost of the airport hotels. You can reach it by bus (either direct, rather infrequently, or by taking S3 from the airport to Tung Chung and then catching a choice of two buses

sleepy hotel on silvermine beach, lantau island
wonderful beach location in mui wo

located on scenic silvermine beach, the hotel is in a wonderful laid back location in mui wo. close to the mui wo ferry terminus, it is only 35-45 minutes to central hong kong. also very convenient to take buses to other locations on the island like po lin monestary (giant buddha), pai o fishing village and the scenic beaches on the south island.
hotel is basic, but clean and the staff very friendly. included buffet breakfast and nice pool makes it a really good value for the money. the hotel is under new ownership and undergoing renovations which should make the accomodations even better in the near future.
Nightlife Tip:
Several little restaurant/bars in the town make it a nice place to relax at the end of the day.

Quiet getaway, but dated

We enjoyed our stay on Lantau Island at the Silvermine Beach Hotel. It was a nice, quiet place but definitely dated. The carpet needed replacing as did the grout and caulking around the tub due to mold.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Catch a bus to the giant buddha, then take the tram down to Hong Kong. Another day make sure to visit the fishing village of Tai O and hike back toward the ocean along a trail leading west out of town. You'll pass several interesting burial sites and climb to a high peak for excellent views. When you're back in Mui Wo, head to the waterfall and silver mine. Follow this trail through interesting terrain and past quaint dwellings.
