Out of the way and quiet
Very helpful and friendly staff
8
One of the best hotels my husband has seen in China. The staff knows English and is very helpful. We arranged for a cab ride to the airport but when our driver slept through the call, the hotel worked with us to secure another ride and got us there on time.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The hotel is within walking distance of the ferry. Just take a left after the pier, walk past where all of the bikes are chained, and continue on the path until you see the sign over the hotel.

Great quiet location
Close to the beach, close to hiking,
7.7
we have enjoyed our stay in this hotel. but it was not so much the hotel, what interested us the most. the glory days of the hotel are over. it is worn out, the rooms are very basic. but for the price it is not bad. the staff is friendly and speaks good english. the best part about this hotel is the location. the hotel is situated on a quite part of the island. it is close to a bus stop, that takes you to the airport every half hour or so. there is also a ferry that takes you to hkg at the same interval. so i would recomment this hotel, even though, as i said, the actual hotel is quite worn out.

Great getaway from the hustle and bustle
Convenient location, Friendly staff
7.3
silvermine beach hotel is one rare gem of hong kong. despite it being a relatively small and old hotel, we were impressed by extremely warm, friendly and helpful staff who displayed outstanding service standards.
it is easily accessible by bus and by ferry, thus makes it an attractive location to escape from the hustling and bustling in hk island, kowloon and all.

Peaceful Location, Good Breakfast
Peaceful, quiet, good breakfast, great price
8.3
We were there in the winter when the water was a little too cold to swim in, but it would be nice in the summer. The air seemed a lot cleaner than central HK too. In the end, just what we were looking for - avoiding the bustle of the city, relatively convenient for the aiport, good price.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
For a good trek, take the bus to Tong Chung and get off at the top of the hill for a 3 hour stretch of the Lantau trail via the highest peak on the island and ending at the giant Buddha.

Lovely hotel and service with a smile

Cheap and good accommodation for those wanting to see Disneyland and not spending a bomb. Quiet and away from city noise. Not much to do in the wee hours though. Bring your own drinks / entertainment.

OK and well placed
lantau island quieter than main island
7.3
without consulting was given an "upgrade" from my quiet twin room facing pretty garden to noisy double room facing building site digging and dredging and sign saying toilets this way.
i complained an was given the room i had booked but there were no sheets on the bed. at midnight i was given a pair of sheets and told to make my bed up myself! unbelievable!

disapointed with the hotel
4.7
staff are nice enough and helpful where they can be, but the hotel is shabby and the rooms are poor, the food is very poor, both in variety and quality.
the cost of the food, lunch or dinner is at 5 star price where the hotel is at 3 star at best.
Travel tip:
there are no real shops near by where you can browse of site see and there are no quality reasturants near by either. the only thing the hotel has going for it is the sea view.

$$$ Setting, An Interior Reno would be priceless!
6
Our main host was Taddy Cyn and he was exceptional....Catered to our request for a different room immediately....Totally helpful in arranging cabs and Hong Kong travel tips....Great ambience and setting and would be a wonderful deal if even new carpets and fresh paint were done as a minimal renovation....Breakfast buffet was more than adequate
Travel tip:
Great spot to enjoy a walk around a pastoral countryside and beautiful harborfront.....don't expect too much from the room.....Could really use a simple reno of at least carpets and fresh paint.....a complete reno would make it priceless and a great way to get away from the business of Hong Kong on a simple cheap 30 minute ferry ride.
