Best of both worlds!
Great breakfast, friendly and efficient staff, great location
9.3
we continued our first stay by re-booking for longer - the staff allowed us to stay in the same room and their was no fuss related to this.
this is a great hotel - perfect for time out from the busyness of life, but also not far away (half an hour to an hour by ferry) from hong kong island. the setting is quite picturesque and the beautiful bay and quaint little town all help to make it a really nice place to stay.
Restaurant Tip:
In town (five minutes walk from the hotel - across from the local bus terminal) there is a great Italian (pizza/pasta/risotto etc) restaurant. Make sure you try it if you like Italian food! (Also, on the other side of the terminal there is a smaller hole in the wall type place that also has great Western food - not as good as the Italian place, but definately worth a look in.)

Comfy hotel in beautiful beach location
Great breakfast, friendly and efficient staff, great location
9.3
on arriving, they very quickly gave us our room which they upgraded to the new wing - while also giving us a bottom floor room to help with getting in and out with our one year old.
breakfast was fantastic with lots of variety and was a highlight of our stay.
we also enjoyed being able to walk down to the beach and the quaint little town of silvermine.
for families with young children, there is also a really nice playground only a short walk from the hotel. all up, we really enjoyed our stay.
Travel tip:
if you want to travel to the star ferry terminal on hong kong island, it is an hour (by slow ferry - 1/2 hour by fast ferry, but more expensive) and the ferry across is fairly easy to catch - just walk into town (5 minutes) and catch it there. this is the easiest way to travel to and fro.

See another side of Hong Kong !
Pleasant, quiet, seaside/ rural environment on Lantau Island with manageable access to Central Hong Kong
8
Professionally - run hotel (run by Miramar group with hotels in Kowloon and on the China Mainland) with good facilities including a pleasant pool (open most of the year). Good room size for Hong Kong.
I stayed in the garden wing.
Full breakfast buffet with Eastern and Western options.
A good holiday hotel. I would stay there again.
Hotel Feature Tip:
From airport take bus S1 (every 10-15 mins) to Tung Chung and then 3M to Mui Wo (approx every 30 mins). Most buses (marked with T in Timetable) stop closer to the hotel than the ferry terminal stop. Direct bus to Mui Wo in mornings and evenings. Quite manageable.
Fast (30min) ferries to Central HK every one hour approx. Slower ferries (approx 50 mins) in between. Also direct ferries to other islands. Tung Chung is on end of rail link passing through Kowloon to Central
Frequent buses throughout Lantau island giving access to beaches, hiking, seaside restaurants and Big Buddha

Lounge on the beach
Lcoation Location Location
6.7
After waiting for about 6 hours (even after asking and being told I could have an early check-in time), the hotel was pretty much ok. It is not luxurious, but it is comfortable and tidy. Right on the beach front at Mui Wo, it is ideal for a get away weekend! Breakfast is quite good and they do order a taxi for you if you need to get around.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The bus station is about 5 minutes walk away. Take the bus to Tung Chung and do the cable car one-way, then take the bus back to Mui Wo. A good day's outing!

This is the second day in this hotel. Perhaps due to weekend, many people stayed in hotel. Breakfast is not as many choices as yesterday. Espcially only boiled egg provided but I wanted scambled egg. Generally, the environment nearby is nice. There is bbq site nearby. There is a lounge in hotel but it seemed no one there. If you want a drink, better go to China Bear near the pier which provides a great atmosphere and food.

Relaxing as always!
Quiet, nice beach and pool, free breakfast
7.7
We stayed two nights in the old wing. The room was nice with a good view of the beach and water. Breakfast was the usual fare...passable but nothing to write home about. However, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff remains a high point as does the peace and quiet of Lantau Island!

Silvermine Beach Hotel is the only hotel in Mui Wo. Other accomodation types are in hostel style. It takes 8mins walk from the pier or bus station to the hotel. There is no direct taxi stop or public transport in front of the hotel. You may consider to rent a bike for travelling around, that's cost a day only. The hotel is very basic. Some rooms with sea view. Breakfast is so-so. Staffs are very nice. Ideal for locals to stay for weekend.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Rent a bike to go around this area

Excellent value and easy location

Comfortable room and a breakfast big enough to set you up for the morning. The staff are friendly and the hotel is ony 10 minutes walk from the ferry to Central so all in all a good budget hotel for a stay in Hong Kong.
Nightlife Tip:
Check out the China Bear bar in Mui Wo. As you come out of the ferry terminal turn left and go past MacDonalds (always a good idea) to the bar round the corner. Good atmosphere with a continuous play jukebox.

I was surpised when I saw the room given by them.. The room was nice and with a good view of beach and sea!! The staff are friendly.. You may enjoy your peaceful and relax holiday @ Silvermine Beach Hotel because of the nice environment!!
Travel tip:
You may either rent a bike for travelling around Mui Wo or take cab / bus, but you have to walk around 8-10 minutes to the taxi / bus stop!!

Quiet location and attentive service
Peaceful location, beach front, pool area
7.7
Awesome location. Quiet attentive service. Beach front property makes for an awesome breakfast outside if weather permits. Took a walk to the "Silver mine" which was a real let down as it was walled up. The falls were nice. Didn't see or hear a moving vehicle for two hours. Plenty of bicycles. If you're looking for a five-star hotel with all the amenities, you're looking in the wrong place. For the price, the value was excellent. Manage your expectations and enjoy the peace and quiet 30 minutes away from downtown Hong Kong.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Do not expect to use the fitness center to work out. LOW END quipment at best. "Dumb bells" were the only thing that met expectations.
