Silvermine Beach Hotel
Nice location, good breakfast
6.7
The room rate does not include internet as mentioned on their room info. Internet costs extra 100HKD/day or 210/3. The breakfast was good and served from 7-10 in the morning. Location was good, right on the beach with a nice view of the sorrounding mountains. Room is definitly not modern, but includes everything you need for a good stay (except internet) Ferry ride to Central was the highlight of staying at this location. An enjoyable 0.5 or 1 boat ride was much better than the mtr. Mui Wo ferry terminal is a 5-8 minute walk from the hotel. Ferry cost to Central: 13 HKD for slow (takes 1 hr) and 25.50 for fast (takes 0.5). The slow boat offers better views.

quite convenience, just 5 minutes walk from 梅窩碼頭.
Beautiful seaview, the room was a bit small and old (old wing)but still was in good maintainence and was tidy and clean.
I think it was a good and an economical choice for having a weekend break there.

I am the local ppl and its my third time visit the hotel, the location is not easy to travel but I like it far away from the city! There is the silivermine beach next to the hotel and there are a lots to see and eat! Indeed, the facilities are quite old and the service is just ok. However, the price are reasonable esp. in HK. I suggest if you are late check in or early check out or have lots of luggage, silivermine is good a good choice. If you want to experience the island life and planned to visit Lantiu Island such as Buddhist, tung chun 360, tai O, etc., its a good choice!
Hotel Feature Tip:
lots traditional and seafood

Relaxation in Hong Kong - yes you can!
Peaceful and directly on the beach
7.7
Mui Wo is a lovely peaceful area - only 30 minutes by boat from downtown Central, and across the mountain shoulder to the airport.
Nice and peaceful - Nice to rent a bike for an hour or two to explore.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Rent a bike.

Decent
Clean, good location, nice swimming pool
7.3
It's perfect if you get there knowing what to expect, everything was clean, but simple. Nothing fancy. Breakfast is a standard Chinese/Wester buffet. I was surprised about the quality of the food after reading the other reviews. It's by no means great, but certainly not terrible either. Overall, good value for money, especially if you will spend most of time on the beach, or hiking in the hills.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Silvermine Cave, The Waterfall, the trails to Discovery Bay

Silvermine Hotel, Lantau Island, Hong Kong
9.3
I hope to stay at Silvermine again, a little shabby but large rooms. The best thing about this hotel is its wonderful Beach location. It was quiet, peaceful and I will gladly stay there again. A bit futher than I thought by taxi from the airport, and taxis are infrequent. But, overall, the qiet atmosphere and easy access by ferry to Central was great.
Travel tip:
Beautiful, quiet location!
