Great location and facilities
Fantastic location and view, Great facilities - Good breakfast, Sauna, Restaurants, Helpful staff, Big comfortable rooms
fantastic location and view, great facilities - good breakfast, sauna, restaurants, helpful staff, big comfortable rooms. only cons would be sightly old rooms, no mini bar in room, not so pro-active service in the room. this is a great place to stay if u want to explore the lantau island for 3-4 days, including big buddha and disneyland

Disappointing in every way
Right next to the beach
My friend and I was spending a day in transit in Hong Kong and decided to stay at Silvermine Beach resort as it was stated on the homepage to be less than 9 kilometres from the airport on the island of Lantau. Based on this, we assumed, we were able to sleep a bit longer, than if we stayed on the mainland (in Kowloon or the like). However the distance to the airport turned out to be considerably longer and we spent at least as much time travelling to and from the airport as if we would have stayed in Kowloon - and we spent more money getting there, since the bus only rides 5 times a day and there is no schedule at the busstop at the airport telling us when. So in total, we ended up spending more time travelling, spending more money, sleeping in a dingy hotelroom and being isolated from a whole lot of activities - I wouldn't recommend going there in January. Basically, the staff was nice and the location was fine, we just feel cheated since it didn't live up to the requirements, we had based our reservation on.

off-season stay was wonderful. quiet, quaint.
Beachfront, very helpful staff, location, locatiion, location.
it was off-season so i was upgraded to oceanview room. i enjoyed the peacefulness. no cars along the beachfront. the taxi lets you out a block or so away and you walk to the hotel. it seemed as though the local residents didn't bother with cars either, most were on bicycles. the park 'n shop store had bikes parked out front, not cars. the hotel facilities looked great, it looked like a great place to bring the family during season. they would not be bored. i plan to return at a busier time. the room was worn, but clean. i had everything i needed.

Aplace to relax
great location out of town, friendly staff
we are regular guests there and like to go back. the hotel is out of the hustle bustle of the city but in a very easy reach by the ferry. you can be in the centre if the city within 30 minutes. the staff is very friendly and helpful, though there are plenty of new faces now. the hotel is in a transformation period, due to the management change. the rooms are to be refurbished, the menu is changed and the overall outlook will be different. some of the changes are already seen, on the terrace there are new coffee tables and the old armchairs are already replaced and you can enjoy a beautiful view of the sea when you are sipping your coffee or tea. hopefully all other changes will be as beneficial as this. the sea is just a few steps away and the shore for swimming is also very near. you can go for hiking in the nearby hilly parts, or just sit on one of the benches and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. this is a perfect place for relaxation and to refresh your body and soul.

good value motel
price, proximity to hong kong international airport
stayed at silvermine hotel on an overnight layover at hong kong airport. the hotel was perfect for this use, but would not stay here for vacation. rooms in need of renovation and no internet service. staff was friendly and helpful.

Good View
Facilities too old. even service is good. Not enough for daily necessities.

Quiet, relaxing and refreshing retreat
Beach Front Hotel which is an hour away from a crowded but world-classed city
A beach front hotel with a beautiful and calm environment. It takes 30 minutes to visit an old fishing village at the other side of Lantau Island. It takes 60 minutes by ferry back to the world-class commercial centre, the central, whereas you can fully enjoy your day tour of Hong Kong Island by the electrical tram from west to east in less than 2 hours. It also allows us to drop-off anytime to sight-seeing and shopping at any tramway stop.

Good location, good food
Good beach/park location without many people, convenient connections to Hong Kong city and airport
we stayed at the hotel for the long new years weekend. it was always sunny and about 20 degrees c all day and night. the water was cool but certainly swimmable. the beach did not have too many people, and a short walk away there was no one at all. it is very convenient for walks into the hills. the saturday buffet is great and costs about euros (it was also new years eve, so that may not be the usual price) especially the roast pigs, the shellfish weren't always fresh. there are cheap boats every 20 minutes to hong kong city, and the taxi to the airport is only about 13 euros and takes 20 minutes. the rooms are reasonably good, the reception is friendly. the pool was empty.
