Pros:
-Very nice and neat.
-Good location for shopping and dinning as well as transportation via bus or mtr
-very near on night market
-near mini sports complex/basketball court and playground (you can join their wushu session for free during morning)
Cons:
- shared cr (male/female .. I guess it depend on the room you booked)
- no cable for t.v
- wifi @_@ . you have to go to the lobby to get a wifi signal w/c I hated most (8pm onwards the lobby is too crowded)

Travel tip:
從時間和額外的交通費用計算,根本沒有下次回來的打算.

we have had some requests that were taken cared of at once. overall, we love to stay there and will recommend to friends.
Hotel Feature Tip:
It is absolutely far from the madding crowd. But then one can just walk down a minute to catch the bus nr 8 to Nathan Road or a two minute walk to Waterloo to get the bus nr 7 to get to Nathan Road hwere the madding crowds are.

Good for backpacking,
Cheap, and good location for a backpacker
6.3
The hotel was fine, but the point that there was sometimes periods, where the elevator were not functioning, was somewhat annoying. Furthermore there was no machine for food close, which means that you have to go out of the building for the little snack at 2 am. However the price service ratio was ok. I would consider it as a good hostal for a low-budget traveller, but not further.

this is my 3rd stay at ywca in 2 years. i like this place simply because it is located within a residential area surrounded by public library, school. and yet very near to mongkok area.
i have stayed in room with attached bathroom and without. the room cleanliness is up to standard. the staff are all well versed in english, cantonese and mandarin.
try to take bus besides mrt because you will be able to reach almost any place in hk with a bus from mongkok area.
Travel tip:
Walking distance to MRT station - 15 mins
Bus station - 2 mins. Taking bus would be very convenient besides taking MRT.

This is a nice place, safe coz lady floor, clean and quiet. Not far from Mongkok center. Walking to Victoria Bay only takes a bit more than 1 hour. You can go there from subway getting off at Mongkok subway station, then walking like 12mins. The price is reasonable compared to other hostels like Chongqing Mension. Internet in the lobby is a bit inconvenient but according to all the conditions, it can be your consideration.
Nightlife Tip:
Should walk to the Victoria Bay and Star Avenue which is really amazing at night. You can walk through all the commercial streets along Mongkok and Nathon Road. Do not miss the streets food.

quiet place in residential area
fifteen minutes walk to subway; buses to downtown widely available; very quiet and secure area, wifi at lobby
6.3
the rooms are cleaned daily and sheets are fresh; toilets need to be spruced up though and the tv set offers limited channels. the busy mongkok area is a leisurely fifteen minutes walk and one can enjoy morning exercise in a park beside the hotel. use chinese text when asking cabs to ferry to the hotel as locals dont know what ywca is, even if the building is tall and visible from a kilometer away. the elderly restaurant waiters typically wait for a tip by hovering around your table after bringing your change and receipt.
Shopping Tip:
mongkok night market stalls open as early as 3 pm and stay open till after midnight. the items on offer tend to be identical so it is best to refrain from purchasing until one has scoured the entire breadth for the cheapest prices of the same items. standard mark up is 100 per cent so it is polite to haggle down to even fifty percent of the announced price. many of the items are knock offs and imitations so one must be wary.

OK, good Asia style location, small annoyances
Shop till you drop in Asian stall area
7.7
Decent hotel for cheap price (HK standards) but at minimum cost could improve. Example Wifi is only available in the lobby so guests hang out and clutter up the small lobby area all day to get a signal. It would not be hard for them to get access in the whole building welcome to the 21st century. Second they have very old TV's with only 4 channels and do not even have a good signal because they do not even have a cable just a poor TV antennae. Never saw this in this century. Next the showers have poor drainage so tends to flood. Last hard to fix they have small and slow lifts. But overall good, nice staff.
Shopping Tip:
Walk down to Nathan Road or take the bus for local style shopping and interesting food items at stalls. Also from the airport you can either take the cheap A21 bus to Nathan Road or the Airport Express to Kowloon Station which has a shuttle bus (K5) which stops at Metropark Hotel right near to YMCA.

I have stayed at this hostel for a number of times now. Always appreciate its good value for money. It is slightly off the busy track, but one can always take a short green mini bus trip to Mongkok MTR. Public buses are easy to get 10 mins wlak from hostel. Off room bath/toilet may not be convienient, however, should not bother one too much if you are staying for a day or two.
