Nice clean hotel at a good location
Inexpensive, located near MTR station, clean
7
A value for money hotel. The hotel is relatively inexpensive, but still has a nice ambience, clean and comfortable. The rooms is just big enough for 2 person, but if you are adding an extra bed, it can be a squeeze. Reception staffs are friendly and polite, but have very little knowledgeable about the area (in my opinion).
The hotel is located 6 stops from Central area (around 10-15 mins by MTR). From the nearest MTR station, it is only a 5 min walk. There is also a tram station just a minute away from the hotel.
Hotel serves below average breakfast. There are many eateries nearby, including a food centre that serves good dim sum at a very cheap price. The famous dim sum outlet (tim ho wan) is about 10 mins away by foot too, and it's a lot less crowded than the outlets in Mongkok or Central.

Older hotel that underwent a face lift, OK value
Location has many good local restaurants in the area
5
Chose this hotel because it provided the best value I could find in HK on short notice. The lobby was much nicer than I expected because of a recent face lift, but the rooms are still relatively old. Overall, you get clean, quiet rooms with nothing fancy. No internet in the room, the free wi-fi available on the first floor is slow and weak, and the breakfast is mediocre at best and I ended up eating at the local restaurants in the area instead. If all you want is a less-expensive, no-frills room for 1 or 2 nights in HK, then this hotel fits the bill. If you want more, then look elsewhere.
Restaurant Tip:
The local restaurants down the block are excellent. As you head out the front door of the hotel, turn right and walk down two blocks pass the interior design companies. There will be several restaurants, all good choices.

Great location rooms are okay
The hotel is close to MTR and very close to the tram. A lot of nice restaurant and shopping around the hotel
7
We stayed in the superior room which was meant for two but since there were three of us we requested for a rollaway. There were not much space to move around but for the price and its location we are okay with it. Our room booking was also inclusive of breakfast. Although breakfast is the same every morning we find that it is okay and the staff at the restaurant are very friendly and helpful. I can say that we save money cause our booking was inclusive of breakfast. I find that the things in Hong Kong are more costly this year and the money we save we can use to buy other things. The tram ride was a very interesting and inexpensive way to travel if you have the time. The whole trip takes about one hour and it only cost HKD2 for normal fare and HKD1 for senior citizen. Remember to buy the Octopus card when you arrived at the hong Kong airport. This card is really useful cause you do not have to carry lot of loose change with you.I also like the local wet market located right next to the hotel. My mom is a great cook she loves to visit the local wet market and buy things that we do not get here in Malaysia. This time we bought straw mushrooms and young bamboo shoot. It is cheaper if you compare the price of these things in Malaysia. To get from the Hong Kong Airport to the hotel just take bus A11 it only cost HKD40 per person and the bus will drop you near the hotel.

Great location, but small rooms.
It is a 3 star hotel for sure.
5.7
The South China hotel is located in an area of Hong Kong that is very accessable by all forms of transportation. From its location you can easily go anywhere on Hong Kong Island. We were able to find many shopping, eating, and sightseeing areas. The hotel is slightly older so I would prefer a newer hotel for next time.
