I stayed in this hotel for two non consecutive times, in both of my stays I enjoyed the view as my room was facing Happy Valley race course from a very clear angle, I consider this a plus given Hong Kong's very crowded skyline. Room was quite spacious and clean, I think this hotel has just gone under a refurbishment of its rooms because my room seemed very new and spotless. Bathroom is also quite big compared to other hotels in Hong Kong.

My stay in Vela hotel was good, the hotel is located in a central position in Causeway Bay, just few minutes walk from Time Square. Some rooms are facing the Happy Valley race course so the view is good, at least you get to see some green areas among the super crowded skyline of Hong Kong. The room was tidy and spacious enough.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Try to get the rooms on 10th floor as those rooms come with a balcony facing Happy Valley race course.

1) Great location - Walking distance to times square, Bus stop to Cross Harbour, Tram stop leading to Central & Causeway bay.
2) Comfortable room - Big room with modern design and excellent view of Happy Valley. Includes free titbits and drinks.
3) Poor sound insulation - Can hear the TV noise from next door.
4) Bad lift services - Unstable lifts. One of the two lifts broke down at peak hours.

it is not convenient to travel by metro from this hotel, but taxi is cheap and the taxi stop is right at the back door of the hotel. to get to the ocean park and 30 to the peak or the pierr. there is also the dingding

Basic hotel, favourable location

The Vela is perfect if you are on a budget and do not intend to spend much time in your room. I was upgraded upon arrival and this resulted in a nice view of Happy Valley racetrack. Bathroom very basic, quality of towels pretty shoddy. Location was key to me so was not unhappy with the stay but would probably pay a few more dollars next time I go to HK.
