The hotel room is very basic and I forgot to ask the hotel staff to put me in a non-smoking floor so the room really smelt bad. Few TV channels. If you have to pay the full price to get a room here (which is similar to those luxury ones), seriously, consider other place. It is not worth it.

good hotel in party part of town if that's what you are after then good. if on the other hand sleep is in the plan then it can be rowdy on the street on thusday and friday nights. good value for money though.

Great deal for the price
Unlike many HK hotels, Wharney has normal-sized rooms.

After staying 2 nights in another HK hotel, Wharney was a breath of fresh air. Nicely appointed room that we weren't stumbling over each other in, in the heart of Wanchai, for a reasonable price. Cons: they have trimmed back a bit (no big deal) and the lobby is sometimes congested with large tour groups coming & going (also no big deal). Wish I'd have stayed there the whole time. Very Cooperative staff.

room was very comfortable on ahigh floor so no street noise. clean and tidy although bathroom in need of some updating. tv channels offer no choice for news so make use of low cost internet service. concierge helpful as always with taxi's when raining and organising a trip.
Restaurant Tip:
use the pacific coffee shop 30 meters away for breakfast if you want something appetising. plenty of restaurants for evening meals nearby, try the outback steakhouse nearby for good value for quality.

We requested a non-smoking room, on a higher floor (for noise reduction), an early check-in and an airport transfer.
We had a non-smoking room on the 10th floor, but they were full the night before, so we could not check in until around midday. The reception staff were charming, and it was not an issue. There was however no airport transfer.
The swimming pool is only open at restricted times. Weekend opening times are 10:00-16:00hrs. Weekday hours are slightly longer, but the pool closes at lunchtime which seems odd as it is not staffed at any point.
Very few seats in the lobby; one bench and two stools. Odd.
Tranfers from the airport are run by a coach company based at the airport and cost per person. The trip may well be cheaper in a cab (cost TO the airport when we left = for three with luggage).
