Great lobby and location... rooms not so great

When I arrived at the hotel I thought it was a lot better then expected... then I went up to my room which smelled so much like smoke that I get getting headaches. The mattress was very hard and it seemed like they didnt really change the sheets, more like just made the bed tidy but using the same sheet. Location was in the middle of Wanchai action.

I have stayed here quite a few times already. The best features include location and it proximity to the MTR station. Located in Wan Chai, you are close to the bars and restaurants and its a quick stop next to central and SoHo. The cost based on quality of the hotel is another matter. The hotel is rather old, but at least the rooms are a decent size. If the cost was 20% lower, I'd say it was a great deal. Other than that, the staff was helpful and spoke english. Overall, I would recommend this hotel of you're looking for a short stay or for business.

The Wharney Guang Dong Hotel,

This Hotel has been renovated and is right up to the latest standards. Its location is very good. Staff are friendly and efficient.
Security is tight and efficient
Rooms are smaller than adverized and the beds are rock hard- horrible.The rooms are well maintained and very clean and tidy, floor staff helpful and friendly.

Quite a convenient hotel, not for the room but its

This hotel is within walking distance to MTR, 3 mins to exit C of Wanchai MTR but needs another 3 mins from the exit to MTR. It is surrounded by many pubs and bars which rather targeted for foreigners than locals. All facilities needed are around the corner; 7-11, coffee shops, restaurant, food kiosks, etc.
The room looks very different from the pictures from outside. May be it is the lowest rate room, but it is good enough for this price. Bathroom seems a bit outdated. If traveling from the airport by Airport Express train, take free shuttle bus line H-2 from Hong Kong station and the 1st stop is right in front of the hotel.

You can enjoy quick and high level service at an affordable fee.
You can walk everywhere in Hong Kong, catch a taxi, tram, bus or train. Captain bell is there tro help you with a smile.
At night enjoy all pubs, typical Hong Kong or European restaurants; there are hundreds in the blocks arround.
Difficult to find better value

On business and pleasure. I had to change rooms three times in three days. The staff was great.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Walk to waterfront around the convention center at night. Starbucks around the corner for internet.

Another very comfortable stay. Internet service better than before as was TV signal. Could do with BBC World as FOX isn't sure which world they are in, only USA or UK info. repairs to fridge and a nuisance wardrobe light were done swiftly and manager paid attention to previous comments. Good place to stay for business and nightlife (if you like to spend money), higher floors better for noise reduction.

Decent hotel in fun part of Hong Kong

actually, this was my 3rd stay at wharney in wanchai. i stay here mostly because its a decent priced hotel within wanchai. the hotel is located near all the bars in wanchai for nightlife is easily accessible. there is a shuttle that the airport express that picks up and drops off riders right in front on the hotel so that is very convenient.

i went there with a friend of mine and we got a twin bed room. the room was a bit small but nothing less then we expected, the service was good but breakfast on 19 floor was poor. some bread butter and jam.
it is located right next to the wanchai ntr station and 4 minutes mtr ride from central.
the area has lots of bars and clubs, mostly for over 40 year old western man which want to have a go with the local ladies.
i will return to the hote. since it is a great value for money
