Good service, very near bars and restaurants, metro station, cheap but clean. Very old rooms and bathroom. No room service. Although for the average stay 1-2 nights it can be fine, more than that it becomes very uncomfortable. The room is clean but very small, not to mention the old water pipes that never seem to flush properly and when you take a shower all the bathroom floor gets wet from the tab drips.
The good part is that it's economic and 2 steps away from the Wan Chai action! We found many types of restaurants and bars on the same street, so very convenient.
Nightlife Tip : 711, many choices of bars and restaurants.

the lobby is clean hospitable; the room is clean acceptable.
the staff were likewise hospitable and courteous, accomodating.
the hotel is very accesible to airport train, to the tram and the buses
there are many restaurants around so you will not be at a loss where to eat. though for our very short stay (that is for only 14 hours) we had not have the time to visit their restaurant.

In the middle of great shopping, and lots of little shops in area. Great staff. Clean, nice hotel. English speaking staff. THEY STILL CHARGE EXTRA FOR INTERNET I will stay here again. Close to mass transportation for ease of city traveling. Friendly staff, that handled a small problem promptly. Clean, fresh, elegant building. I had no problem with anything (except the internet connection which the had fixed in about 5 minutes) and found my stay to be better than I expected for the price I paid.
Nightlife Tip : Its everywhere around this hotel, without being too loud to keep you awake at night.

As you step out of the hotel, you see the action happening.... bear bars, entertainment optionss, good eating places.... Not recommended if you are with kids.... The location of the hotel is excelent.... There are varied options for eating, drinking and entertainment. This is located at the happening place.
Metro subway is just 3-5 min walk from the hotel, taxis are available outside the hotel....thus, well connected to rest of Hongkong.
It is very close of convension and exhibition centre, Hotel Grant Hyatt, 7 Eleven store, couple of Discos, lot of bars and live dancing options.
The hotel is cleanand the staff is helpful.
This was my third visit to the hotel. I always preferr to stay in the hotel wheneer I am in Hongkong

Clean and fragrant towels and bed sheet bellboy gives you the feel that the tip is mandatory, will not let you go easily Wharney Guangdong is really the best choice I have made for this recent trip. Everything worked perfectly. I don't agree with the other reviews that the location within the redlight district is a big minus. The red light district is in HK is mild and child's play compared to other countries. I don't see a few ladies sitting in front of their restaurants can be bothersome. This is really the best Value for money hotel in HK, not sacrificing quality, cleanliness and friendly hotel staffs.

The sorriest looking swimming pool I have ever seen!
Poor location My boyfriend and I stayed at the Wharney Guang Dong Hotel a couple of weeks ago for 1 night. We had been staying at the wonderful Garden View YWCA hotel where we had a fantastic room, brilliant view of the Hong Kong skyline and was under HALF the price of the Wharney Guang Dong. I spent a while looking for a replacement hotel as the YWCA was full that Saturday night. I came across the Wharney Guang Dong and looking at the pictures I thought it would be perfect, especially as it was double the price I expected a lot more than what we already had especially as the room was advertised as 'deluxe'. I really wanted to relax by a pool as we had spent all week exploring Hong Kong but when we arrived in our TINY room and after having got over the shock of the decor and how small our SINGLE beds were I looked out the window at the sorriest looking pool I have ever seen that looks like it NEVER gets the sun. So we decided to dump our bags as quick as we could and get out. Thank God it was only one night we were staying there for. There are MUCH better hotels in Hong Kong for much less money so it is definitely worth looking elsewhere!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Have a look at the outside of the famous 'Bottoms Up' pub (It looks like it has closed down now) as featured in the Bond Movie "The Man with the Golden Gun".

Good location of hotel and clean The air-conditioning control panel was not working. Good location of the hotel - nearby MTR station, walking distance to Admiralty, availability of restaurants and bars and close to Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. The only unpleasant thing was the air-conditioning in my room, the control was not working.

right in Wan Chai, close to restaurants and subway. some of the room features did not work. The Wharney is in a great location and value for money if you like the restaurant and bar scene of Wan Chai. You can walk to the subway station. It is a short subway or taxi ride to central. Some of the room features didn't work. The hot water was sporadic, the pay per view movies did not work nor did the fridge. When we complained we were given a new room though. We have stayed there before with no problem.

stiff beds, not every works in the room We have stayed at the Wharney 3 times now. We always like the location as it is right in Wan Chai and we can walk to a variety of restaurants and bars. It is about 200m for Wan Chai subway stop and a short taxi ride to Central. The standard rooms are ok but the beds are hard. Last time we stayed the refrigerator did not work, the hot water had no pressure and the video set top box did not allow us to choose movies. We complained and were moved rooms

Centrally located at the corner of Lockart and Lourd Rd. Around all the bars/pubs/restaurants. Modern room and clean Typical Mainland Chinese manners, Staff is very stand off-ish. Some noise heard coming from the nearby bars on Lockart Rd. The Wharney Guang Dong Hotel located on Lockart Rd is very satifactory because of its modern room, and the very centrally location. Right in the middle of the Wan Chai strip around all the bars/pubs/restaurants, 5 minute walk from the subway.
Travel tip : Empty out the hotel room fridge and pick up all your beverages at the 7-11 located across the road.

Good price, convenience location, Comfortable size room. the swimming pool not as nice. Too many pubs nearby This is my first stay in The Wharney Guang Dong Hotel, Hong Kong. overall it is a quite good experience stay here. The room size was much more bigger than what i expect, as what i heard, hong kong's hotel's room was very very small.It's very convenience location that you can reach the nearest MTR station within 5 minute walking distance, and there's lot of restaurant nearby. As a reminder, please prepare some small change as tips for the hotel boy, as he won't leave the room without tips.
