Not as cheap as it used to be
The location of this hotel is excellent - right next to the Star Ferry Terminal, an MTR station and Nathan Road. Our room was very comfortable and the partial harbour view was in fact almost a complete harbour view. The check-in staff are fairly efficient, although our room was not ready when we arrived and we had to leave our luggage and come back later. Highly recommended hotel.

Location, clean and staff efficient and helpful.
I booked two rooms, both partial view. This hotel is clean and the staff, friendly. It is located at a very convenient location. I have to add that the water pressure during shower was great.Going to church was easy because it was just on the 4th floor. Crossing over to Hong kong island was also convenient as the Star ferry terminal was within walking distance.

Just 10 minute walk from MTR station.
Small room but comfortable.
I and my family include my 5 year old son very happy at this hotel. It locate near cultural center, space museum. We can walk from hotel to see SOL just 10 minute and then to Avenue of star.
There are many shopping center around hotel. The room is quiet small ,clean but rarely expensive for me. Staff are friendly.

Locality, great service, security.
I'm not writing this to get the points. I just liked the hotel so much because of its fantastic location so near the harbour and Tsim Tsa Tsui. I was also impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel and the staff who were so courteous I did not have any reason to complain of anything during my 2 nights stay. The fruit basket was a pleasant surprise too. Thanks for making my stay a great one.

service mind, located near city , near shopping area like harbor city
hotel reception look like motel, did not look like quite expensive hotel.
Hotel located in the city, small but staff are friendly, service mind and very helpful. Staff could answers every questions and ready to fix problem. Room was small but clean, i strongly requested double bed but hotel provided me twin, TV was broken. Value for money is OK because located in the city.

Location is excellent, next to Pininsula Hotel and Nathan Road shops. Good value for money compared to the other 5 star hotels in this area. Good advice from the attentive staff regarding tourist info.
Room a bit on the small side, but fine when you consider the price.
Very central location, close to loads of shops and star ferry termimal and right across the rooad from HK Cultural Centre. If you want a harbour view book in advance as it seems to be a very popular hotel. Rooms are clean and have all the necessary things, nice clean bathroom with powerful shower. Overall the room was comfortbale although a bit on the small side - but fine when you consider the price compared to other hotels in the area. Other factilties include pool and gym I think but cant comment as I didnt use them.
Travel tip : Book in advance if you want harbour view.

Super location, staff is very friendly, good service and rooms are good enough.
First impression when you enter the hotel is a bit hectic and lots of suitcases all over the place.
Not an extremely special hotel, but value for money is very good, the location, most important, cannot be better. Staff is friendly, room has everything in it and the cafetaria serves a good (and cheap) breakfast.

Reception staff helpful and filled our request to upgrade from a partial view to a full view room and what a fantastic light show we experienced from our corner suite.
The hotel is close to both the Star Ferry and the metro for easy access to Hong Kong.
Old, tired hotel, poor food and tour desk staff not helpful for general tourist information.
We stayed at this hotel for one night in December 2008 and the location is great but the hotel needs an overhaul. The lobby ceilings are low and the lobby cafe decor in particular is very dated. We made the mistake of ordering an American breakfast and the eggs were scrambled in oil! For once we would have been much happier eating at McDonalds which is only one block away near the Ferry terminal. Staff in charge of tours were not interested in helping us find our way to the Peak when they realized that we weren't booking any tours with them. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Room was only worth it because of the upgrade.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Order breakfast at McDonals's near the Ferry Terminal and then take the Star Ferry to HK. Get off the ferry and walk over to the steps to the raised walkway, past the shops and metro entrance and cross the road to the central bus terminal. From there take the double decker bus which runs to the top of The Peak. It's a much more interesting ride than the funicular.

Location location location
The price for in-room internet is a tad steep.
First off the hotel is right next to the Pennisula Hotel. So you're close to the Star Ferry Terminal, the subway, and of course the Airport Link.
A bonus is you are on the harbour so you may see the nightly son et lumiere display over on the Hong Kong side.
The "Y" has always been a great value, and since its renovation it is even more so. I intend to stay there again.

A bit expensive, but probably cheaper than other Hong Kong hotels. To use the rock climbing wall, you had to be certified by their staff, and they only did that one day a week.
The hotel was expensive, but that's still probably cheaper than most hotels in Hong Kong. It's only a couple blocks to the subway or Star Ferry, so easy to get around. Not a far walk to some of the museums & markets in Kowloon.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Buy an octopus card -- good for subways, ferries, etc. I was only there for 3 days, but especially with the train to the airport, I went through the entire value and even had to add some money.

Centrally located near the bay.
Too expensive for the rating.
This is quite a nice clean hotel, however for a holiday traveler, I would not recommend this. It is a little too expansive for rating. It is centrally located, however a lot of the tourist spots like men's street, ladies street are about 1-3 MTR stations away. You can get cheaper hotels will equivalent standard 2-3 MTR stations away...which in my opinion is also very centrally located as well.

Superior rooms come with partial ocean view and gives a great view of the Hong Kong bay. Great at 8pm since you have a good view of the light show.
Cozy rooms with soft beds.
Quite expensive - you can get better room amenities in other hotels at the same price.
Some hotel staff are not very familiar with schedule (earliest trip) of the Airport Express (Airport Express Leaves Kowloon station for the airport at 5:52am. Very useful if you're booked for an early flight.
Lobby not so cozy.
Heated water not so consistent. Water turns cold gradually as you use it but heats up again after a few seconds.
Limited cable TV channels
YMCA Salisbury is a very cozy hotel (even if you get the standard room). Very convenient location as it is very near (just across) the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station.
The room amenities are very basic.
Hotel Feature Tip : Upgrade your room to a superior room so you can have a great view of the Hong Kong bay and the light show (8pm nightly)

Conveniently located, well-run, decent accomodation.
Can be noisy; hates Debit Cards,
Stayed at this hotel for ten nights in a partial harbour view room. The hotel is conveniently located both for the MTR and the Star ferry and is well run, and the staff are generally polite. On a couple of occasions, I was woken up by guests returning in the early hours: an extra door between the bedroom and the corridor would help in this respect. There was also some noise carry from adjacent rooms. The only major irritation I had was concerning my Debit Card. I have used debit cards when travelling for more than twenty years, including at three other hotels in Hong Kong, and without the slightest problem, but at this hotel they insisted I pay them a cash deposit to cover any costs I incurred (such as the use of the mini-bar) because they could not, for some reason, charge a debit card.
Restaurant Tip : Have breakfast in the ground floor restaurant: it is cheaper than the fourth floor one.
