Taj Mahal
Because of its architectural majesty, there are very few buildings in the world that are as universally recognized as The Taj Mahal. Building began on this awe-inspiring structure in 1632 and completed in 1653. During this time thousands of craftsmen and artisans worked on and designed the facility.
In 1983 the Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is cited as “The jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage.” It is easy to understand, after strolling in the grounds along the reflecting pools or simply standing inside this incredible structure, why such an award was given. It has also been names of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, and the recent New Seven Wonders of the World. While the Taj is amazing enough on its own, visitors should be sure to stroll about the grounds to visit the other tombs and extensive gardens that are positioned throughout.
