Highlight of our entire India holiday!
Amazing heritage fort, people, service

we spent a week travelling in rajasthan, and stayed here as a stop between jaipur and jodhpur. absolutely no regrets at all! it seems to be still relatively unknown and untouched, which perhaps explain for the beauty, warmth and enthusiasm of those villages around the hotel who welcome you with such open arms that my husband and i felt like bollywood stars. the fort itself is so beautiful with its only little swimming pool. it still belongs to the direct descendents of the maharajah who welcomed and hosted us so kindly. but do not come here expecting 5 star luxury of taj hotel group, but if you are after true india experience of warm, genuine people before commercialism hit different parts of india, if you are after an authentic experience in trying to see and relive how the maharajahs used to live their ordinary daily life without their frilly pomps and fancy trimmings, you have to come here! we did the ox-cart ride (except it was broken, and we did a tuktuk instead), which is a must do, and an astrology reading just for the fun of it! definitely the highlight of our entire trip. after all the craziness, commercialism, hustling and haggling along all our rajasthan stop, this was such a sane oasis that makes us remember why we love india in the first place! my husband and i cannot recommend this enough... if we really have to nit pick, it's only that the water heater takes a while to heat up, and i have to shower very quickly after my husband before the hot water runs out! but the host was so amazing and offered us hot water bottles every night without us asking. with the heater and hot water bottles, i didnt feel cold one bit despite those cold winter nights.
