A fascinating historical building unspoilt by excessive modernisation. Sounds in the courtyard carry through the building. The Samode Palace is a kind of time capsule. The buildings have not been modified beyond what is necessary to turn the palace into a hotel.It is a fascinating place to stay. The Durba room and halls around it are very impressive, and the staff are eager to show guests around. I would recommend the a la carte food rather than the buffet if you prefer Western food, although you could order a pasta made to order as part of the buffet, which was very good. The views from the hotel are quite spectacular. There is free WIFI in the courtyard.
