Very attentive staff
1. The drinks in the bar (margharita and mohito), 2. The service provided by all the staff. 3) The comfort of the room
7.7
The hotel is located far away from the tourist attractions, therefore a car is needed to move around. This is highly recommended and inexpensive. We had a great driver during our entire stay (Siva). Very polite, helpful and attentive to our needs. The bar tender made some of the best Margharitas and Mohitos that we have had in a while. As I was attending a religious event and had to wear a sari, one of the staff helped me to wear it! She was extremely helpful and felt happy by being able to help. We had the concierge come to our breakfast table every day to help us with planning our day. He never felt to help us and assist us with information. I think the best thing of this hotel is their people and service. The premises are nice, but then again that is expected. However, their service is what really makes you feel like coming back!

Beautiful grounds with ocean view
beautiful surroundings, attentive staff, great variety of food
9.7
The stay at the hotel was really good. We lost all our baby food so the hotel helped us to source some more the very first day. All the staff were very attentive and paid special attention to the kids who lapped up the attention. The grounds were beautiful and view of where the backwaters meet the arabian sea was also very special!

Lovely Hotel and Service with a Smile
Great Comfort and Excellent Service
9
We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting Kochi.
It was great to return to such comfort and service after a day visiting.
It was my birthday while there and they left a chocolate cake and flowers in the room for me.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.
As well as being a very nice hotel, the style is colonial which has a lot of charm.
Hotel Feature Tip:
They have a great spa there. If time permits, take advantage of the spa.
Also be sure to take the sunset cruise - it's great.

I celebrated my 60th birthday at Vivanta and the hotel did not let me down. When I was asked to provide my birthday at check in, staff noticed that it would be my birthday the next day. she (Michelle) asked me what she could do for me. I said I was really tired after a very long flight with laid over at Hong Kong and Chennai. She told us to have some lunch first and she would inform me when room was ready. We finished lunch and started to explore the hotel, the manager came to tell us that since I was tired, he upgrade me to the Malabar Suite (the best room of the house) so I could rest. My husband and I were totally awed by that. My husband had asked the restaurant manager to make us a special meal for my birthday, they made me a gluten free cake that I could eat and fish head curry which I loved. Because the fish heads were discard usually, so they didn't even charge me. Just charged the other items we ordered. The words went around and I had different staff coming to wish me happy birthday. The house keeping staff made me an elephant using towels. When we parted, we got a little gift from them. We felt like royalty there and we certainly will be back someday. Thanks to all the staff, from reception, to kitchen, to housekeeping. Thanks for making my 60th birthday with such happy memories.
Restaurant Tip:
The Rice Boat restaurant on site is great! You can put in your order and they try their best to make it for you. The chef select fish fresh from local fishermen everyday. I couldn't eat too spicy food and they made it to my liking. You must try!

Top class service
staff are excellent. hotel is beautiful
9.3
What a great hotel. From the moment you step through the door you will be attended to in a polite, genuine, professional manner. The hotel and facilities are spotless, beautiful views. Cons are that the location is a bit remote- nothing to do on Willingdon Island itself. Also things like WiFi and extra water are chargeable at somewhat high rates, which feels a little mean considering how much rooms are. Rooms are sufficiently spacious but not huge.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The gym, spa, sauna and Jacuzzi are excellent.

we came here to relax for four days not to use it as a base or stop over as others did; we recommend you stay and linger. A lovely hotel; colonial style and exceptional service make it a destination not a 'hop-stop'.
Enjoy free high tea nightly at 5pm following by the complimentary sunset cruise; no one told us about that. Small but lovely pool. Four eating options - all very good. we recommend the Rice Boat seafood offer
Hotel Feature Tip:
Ask for the higher level rooms
