Never stay here
Good food, good view from the top
4.3
stayed here before, every time i come back with a hope that things would have improved. no !!! its noisy with people from all sorts of places. westerners have started rejecting this hotel for the following reasons :
1. despite no smoking, people smoke in corridors.
2. drunk people loiter in corridors and shout loud at the middle of the night.
3. too crowded and noisy dining area.
4. they frequently change their dining area to give space for parties and will put you in a lobby and call it a dining area.
5. thinking of complaining... they will say " yes sir, yes sir".. but that's it.
6. house keeping people will still knock your door even if you have put a do not disturb sign.
7. wild parties every night... you will not be able to sleep.
8. bathrooms stinks, they dont even give you soap, and other amenities unless you ask for it.

Great if you have patience and a sense of humour
Convenient for walking to Eden Gardens
6.3
We stayed with friends to watch a cricket Test match and enjoyed the hotel's eccentricities. We were lucky to have a room in the bilges as our fiends paid for premium rooms on the top floor and suffered continuous noise from the endless parties hosted on the top deck which has a tin floor. Management needs to decide whether it is a hotel or an entertainment venue .. or invest in some soundproofing.
Hotel Feature Tip:
If you plan only to sleep in your room then the cheaper riverbank rooms make more sense. The river view is not that exciting and the sun shines uncomfortably straight in. Plenty of good views on deck

in the words of one of my fellow travellers, this stay was "a total disaster"...another quote was "in forty years of world travel this is simply the worst hotel i've ever stayed at!" this was very embarrassing for me as i selected this hotel in the first place. the hotel hotels parties and functions on the roof on a daily basis and the disturbance that this causes their guests (especially those on the top floor - 3) has to be seen/heard to be believed. they say "oh sir/madam the party will finish at 11pm...but then an army of staff are up on the roof preparing for the next party...often all night. maddening. the staff are very polite, helpful and frankly embarrassed. this is caused by the owners of the hotel wishing to bring in as much revenue as possible and to hell with the guests, basically. this hotel also has no eco credentials at all, that is simply marketing nonsense. the bar is inefficiently run (ran out of gin and tonic two days running) and seriously expensive for such a low grade hotel. i hope that many of the other bitterly disappointed guests booked through agoda and similar so they can get their opinions in print and lower the rating of the place. don't get me wrong, you can get a good nights sleep there, despite the rooms being very small, but you'll need to get lucky, and that can't be right. the hotel is a long way from anywhere useful and very often the taxis won't pick you up, or if they do they want four to five times the meter fare.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Best thing is to stay elsewhere.....Sudder st area much better and much more fun.
