Lovely local hotel still with some teething issues

Great hotel with potential - we got upgraded to the room with the view of the pond instead of a first floor room above the lobby facing the roof of the pool area.
The room decor was nice. However, the room in this section looked like they were just built - furniture and fixtures still had paint splashes on them, the shower didnt drain well when we used the rainbath shower and flooded out from the bathroom into the room!! The gym was not fully functional as it appeared to still be in renovations.
The food at the dinner buffet did not have a wide variety and even the indian food was mediocre.
The location is also a little out of the way and secluded.

1.Safety – the hotel has a sprinkler system installed but in one wing it is inoperable. The safety covers are still in place on the sprinklers in the rooms and corridors. Hotel management agrees this is the case.
The fire escape is not kept clear – it is used to store plastic bags of rubbish and has a lot of loose litter in the stairs. Additionally management have built storage cupboards in the fire escape with plywood. It is unclear what is being stored.
2. Cleanliness – the public areas although, built to a high standard are not well cleaned. As mentioned by a previous reviewer the corridors are very dusty and the bannisters not cleaned. There has been building work but there is still no excuse as during the 5 days we were staying no attempt was made to clean the area.
3. Service – haphazard is the best description. The staff are friendly and try to be helpful. But supervision is poor.
4. Quality of rooms – we booked and paid for a Superior room. These were apparently built in April 2012. The list of problems with the room i9ncluded – electric sockets that did not work, no toilet roll holder, one tooth mug, wardrobe lights that would not go off; WIFI that did not work in this wing; a lit artifact – but no artifact; skirting board missing in the bathroom; paint splashes over all the fixtures and fittings.
We were moved to a deluxe room – there things were better. Strangely we had slippers, robes, 4 bath and 2 hand towels, Wi-Fi that worked, 2 tooth mugs, 2 toilet roll holders! No explanation as to why all these were missing from the Superior room!
I did raise these points with the Manager – he listened but was clearly not in the least bit interested in fixing anything.
Finally be warned – this hotel does NOT have an alcohol license. That may not be an issue for everyone.
In summary parts of the hotel are still under construction and it is unclear when things will be finished.

Almost perfect!

Had a wonderful stay, we booked last minute as my husband was poorly and we wanted somewhere for him to recuperate. It couldn't have been better. Friendly staff, good service, good food, beautiful pool, comfortable room, and very comfy beds and pillows! Nothing too much trouble.
Only issue was wifi - a hotel like this should have wifi included in the tariffs and not to be purchased as a separate package.
Travel tip:
Ideal place to recharge your batteries after hectic schedule.
