We arrived late in the evening at the hotel and our 1st impression was not very good: large street without charm, front of the hotel which looks like anything but a chateau, reception at the 5th floor and small and rather gloomy (standard) room. However, staying there for 3 nights, we have been able to discover all the advantages of the hotel. The location between Marine drive and most sightseeing is much better than Colaba. The room and shower, even if small, were very clean and comfortable, and the nights were very quiet. Staff was very kind and helpful: advice on restaurants and transport, complimentaty breakfast at checkout although it was not at booking time, possibility to have a shower with towels 10 hours after checkout etc.
We recommend this hotel.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : One of the most beautiful sunsets we have ever seen on Marine Drive, at 50 meters of the building.

Basically, this hotel is exactly what it says on the tin. It is BASIC. Mumbai is a very expensive city for accomodation and the Chateau Windsor is one of the cheapest 'stared' hotels available.
It is in a decent enough location in the tourist area of Mumbai and only a short ride from the main attractions.
The hotel is clean and good for the money. Dont go with high expectations and you will not be dissapointed.
Take breakfast on the roof terrace for a good ocean and city view (50 rps).
Staff are very helpful should you need them.
Overall a good basic hotel, in India's most expensive city.
