Convenient location - Very near the Churchgate train station, near restaurants, 1 min walk to Marine Dr by the sea, 20 min walk or 10 min taxi ride (R$16)to Coloba the tourist area, clean room, breakfast at roof top, very friendly staff, clean, lots of channels on TV.
Quite plain and basic hotel. Noisy air conditioner (which is typical for wall units).
I had to take trains several times so this is a great location for me. Otherwise, the Coloba area might be even better for tourist since it has a lot more shops and night life. The hotel is quite plain and basic but clean. The staffs are nice. On the day where I checked out in the morning, they let me take a shower after a day of sightseeing so that I can go to the airport fresh. They actually asked me if I want to do this so it was nice of them.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The Reality Tour (i.e the slum tour) starts at Churchgate station. Taxi to Coloba or the Gate of India is around R16-20 using the meter in the morning, but many taxi charge R30 as fixed rate coming back in the evening.

friendly staff at every corner. Easy walk to see Gateway, Taj Hotel, Cafe Leopold etc.
I was led to believe it was convenient to the airport. It was a 45 minute ride for 1100 rupees ($22). Half of hotel is in renovation so you'll hear pounding during the day. Old section rooms are dull. New section rooms are quite nice. Rooftop "garden" isn't very attractive.
Apparently hotel rooms are in demand in Mumbai, so this hotel gets a better review and higher tariff than otherwise expected. One enters via a tiny elevator to the 5th floor desk, all well-worn and definitely looking 2 star at best. Place is half under renovation. OK if you can get a new room, which will be suite nice, away from construction.

close to Churchgate, can walk to all sites in south Bombay
Very noisy, construction all day! Can't sleep past 8am. Located in crowded street.
The standard room is not good. The sheets smell of curry and it is very noisy. Even the rooms on 2nd floor, there were construction all day and also the noise from the street is very bad. Had to be upgraded to superior room or else, I was not going to stay there! Superior room is cleaner to sleep. Soap and shampoo provided is not good, Breakfast is ok.
Restaurant Tip : Across the street, there's Gaylords restaurant, good indian food.
