I like small hotels and Fariyas fitted the bill nicely. I am not sure how it got 4 stars though. On the other hand there's no reason why you shouldn't stay there. Although expensive compared against what you get in other cities, it is very reasonable for Mumbai

(1)Very convenient location. Walkable distance to the major landscape e.g. Gateway of India & Taj Mahah Hotel (<15min), Mumbai University (<25min)
(2)All staff I met were very nice and helpful
(3)A local market of Indians was very close. Just a 10 minute walk can bring you some first hand experience of daily life of local people.
(1) The cleaniness was just acceptable
(2) No slipper, toothbrush and toothpaste were provided.
(3) The safe in my room did not work.
The location is exceptionally good. You can see the grand Taj Mahah Hotel and a local Indian market within walkable distance. You can also enjoy a Bollywood movie with about HKD20 in the > 40years old "Regal" cinema in a 15min walk. The major consideration is the cleaniness. If you decide to stay in Fairiyas, remeber to bring your own slippers, tooth brush abd toothpaste.
