Fine hotel, but no value for money
View of the rooftop, area, deluxe rooms
we spent three nights at hotel godwin. we had high expectations because in delhi we stayed in a very luxurious hotel with the same name and due to the high room rate. unfortunately the hotel initially wasn’t what we expected. it is an old hotel that need a repair or a new lick of paint, here and there. first we got a standard room on the 2nd floor with a direct view of the wall of the hotel next to us. we asked for a room overlooking the city, but they did not have in our price range (standard). for rs p / n more they offered us a fantastic (deluxe) room with a kingsize bed an supurb view of mumbai. the breakfast was poor. the breakfast room is too small and the buffet was not properly completed and often things (food items but also plates etc.) were finished. the dinner on the rooftop terrace is not recommended, we have over 45 minutes for our food to wait (which was not even good, the naan was tough) while virtually no other guests were. for a city trip the hotel is fine but you do not get value for money. for the same money you can book far better hotels in colaba.

Expensive Mumbai
Good location
The room was very dusty but the bedsheets were clean. I am glad to choose this hotel as the city was in BANDH status when we arrived. No public transport, no restaurants/stores(except hotel restaurants) open because of the recent death of a politician. Luckily we can still eat at the rooftop restaurant of the hotel and have a walk to the Gateway of India.

Horrible Hotel - overrated, overprized
The hotels in the neighbourhood
Due to internet-research and personal reference i went there and was shocked. obviously i had paid way too much. almost no western people. every breakfast room in other hotels was better at better prize. maybe it was cool and cozy 10 years ago. now it's through and quirky.

traditional old hotel in select area
Convenient location for tourists
as an older type hotel it had large bedrooms and mine had a view towards the famous taj hotel and city skyline.corridoors were cramped and the tiny lift with (attendant)was quite slow. buffet breakfast was barely adequate and not inspiring. reception staff were efficient and helpful. other manual staff were constantly on the lookout for tips.

Misleading experience
Rooftop restaurant, free wi-fi
In all my years of travelling, I have never had an experience quite like this one. We booked our room online based on its perceived value for money and photos. Boy were we wrong! We decided to take up the offer of an airport transfer as we arrived in Mumbai at 1am. This was the first warning bell. We were charged FOUR TIMES what a taxi would have cost! Then we arrive to a room the size of a shoebox (we had booked and paid for a 'deluxe' room...) that had not seen an update for probably 30 years. To make matters worse, the hot water got turned off over night, so we had to contend with cold showers. We called room service for a couple of beers and when they were brought up, we asked for a bottle opener. The porter didn't have one as the inside of the toilet/bathroom door come equipped with one...!!! If we hadn't already paid for our room we would have walked out on the spot! On leaving, we had to fix up our room service bill and were told our Australian Dollar had devalued by about 20% and they tried to rip us off again! I would not only never return to this hotel or recommend it. So disappointing.

great location for shopping at causeway.
spacious rooms
the stay was overall good. but there could be some variety in daily breakfast. there was no tea/coffee maker in the room. otherwise the staff was friendly and accommodating.
