Nice Colaba hotel with excellent rooftop bar

The hotel was a great Colaba location. Easy to walk to the gate of India and the Taj Hotel. The lonely planet walking tour starts close by as well. The room itself is fine - nothing to get excited about. The rooftop bar is fantastic. If you want good wifi there is a Starbucks that offers it for free behind the Taj. I know, not a true "India" experience but it is the friendliest Starbucks you will ever visit.

where do l start, my friend who picked us from the airport was not allowed in our room, so we had to spend time with him outside as there isnt a foyer as such, something about security... do they things its the taj???? there was a rat/mouse in our room, who knows really what it was, when we spoke to them they said "well what do you want me to do about that?" l can go on and on about things that happened to us with this hotel. on check out we gave them our credit card and was told that the eftpos machine wasnt working and that we had to give them cash, (they knew we had cash)they tried many times to get it working but never in front of us, so we had no choice but to give them cash as we had a taxi waiting for us. we have since found out that is the biggest scam going in that hotel..

Wonderful quiet location in the center of Colaba

I would definitely stay at the Sea Palace Hotel again. The location was perfect, being in the center of Colaba. The Executive Deluxe rooms are well kept. And be sure to check out the rooftop bar view.

Not luxurious, but we will return
Excellent roof terrace with fantasic sea views. Location is only 500 metres from the Taj Hotel and India Gate. Good value for money overall.

first impressions weren't great compared with the website. we choose an exec delux room, and the decor still looked dated. the 3rd bed that we ordered was a very flimsy camp bed that wasn't ready for us on arrival despite me calling ahead.
however - the hotel grew on us during our stay. whilst the hotel looks dated, it was kept very clean and the staff were helpful. the roof terrace has excellent views and is a great place to enjoy a drink. the location was perfect given that we had friends paying over 5 x the price to stay in the taj hotel 500 metres down the road.
Hotel Feature Tip:
If you ask for filter water then they will bring this to your room free of charge, whereas bottled water is expensive - they didn't think to tell us this.
Breakfast looks basic but is tasty, and you can order fresh cooked omlettes.
The 3rd bed is a very flimsy camp bed.

Good place in Bombay. The rooms are clean and the beds are good and all the extras are there eg fridge, satelite television, coffeemaker. The best thing about this place is the location and the outside sittingarea where you can have a drink, food and a smoke. The staff is really good and helpfull. Food and drinks a little expensive but good. The use of wifi is really expensive.
