Taj Mahal (Tower Wing) Hotel Mumbai Info

The magnificent tower designed by American architect Melton Bekker, with its arched balconies topped by a jagged diadem, is a landmark in Mumbai.

Standing in harmonious contrast to The Taj Mahal Palace, the rooms offer a refreshing mix of European style and Indian elegance and overlook the city or face the Gateway of India and the Arabian Sea. The hotel has many choices of restaurants. Boats to Elephanta Caves depart from across the street from the hotel and should not be missed.

Facilities of the hotel were great. The building was unbelievable - the old world of the empire still lives on! Best of all were the satff - they took care of every need and were the most attentive of any hotel I have stayed at in Asia.

Really nothing to fault withi the hotel. Outside is culture shock and a shambles, but good fun too.

Our stay at the Taj Mahal was the most enjoyable of our stops in India. The restaurants are very, very good, although cheaper eating can be found outside the hotel - but hey, Morimoto, the Iron Chef, doesn't cook at them. A lazy afternoon by the pool was always enjoyable. The room was large and well serviced, including staff dropping by with complimentary nibbles and wine one night. Breakfast at the buffet was normal hotel fare plus a great range of Indian foods that we wouldnt usually consider for breakfast, but hey, when in Rome. Views from our room gave a great view of Mumbai and the harbour. What else can I say - future trips to Mumbai will see us staying at the Taj again - there really is no comparison.

Shopping Tip : Dont worry about taxis or shopping tours - get your shoes on and walk! There is excellent shopping very close to the hotel, from market stuff to upmarket clothes and homewares, or, the hotel itself has an arcade with all of the top designer labels there.
