Hotel Can Do Better Than It Does
I really like the location, the rooms are comfortable and clean, and the breakfast staff is excellent--particularly Rajshree, Noil, and some of the chefs. However, just as you enter the hotel, there is grimy and stained carpet. This is the first thing one sees and the hotel management does nothing about it year after year. It lowers the Taj brand name. The front desk staff and the sales/reservation staff are not up to par either. This Taj hotel front desk does not answer direct overseas calls unlike other Taj hotels, no matter what time you call. The reservations staff does not respond and if by chance they do, it is confused and disorganized. The reservation and sales staff is not very professional.

Nice posh hotel but...
Overall our stay was very comfortable n we were well taken care of. But the un-pre-warned maintenance of the pool made us pretty upset. We actually cancelled our booking at another hotel n booked at vivanta as there was a pool. But the pool was suddenly on maintenance indefinitely n we had not been told earlier abt it (when we were booking a week before the stay). They did offer to transport us to taj hotel to usebthe swimming pool there but that was not a viable option for us, especially with a 2 yr old in tow. So other than this upsetting point, everything else was luxurious n comfortable.

When I checked in on 5 April , about 11pm , I was told that only a twin room was available , when I had a confirmation of a double room . It took approx 30 mins for the front desk to give me a double room . This was annoying , as I had awoken at 4 am that morning , taking a flight from 1 city to another , and finally being told that a category of room that was confirmed for me by the hotel was no longer available . In the past 2 years , I have spent approx 30 nites at this hotel . I have intentions of staying at other hotels in my future visits to Mumbai . I spend an average of 20 nites per annum in Mumbai hotels .

Great hotel and very nearly 5*
Great views from upper floors. Very comfortable boutique-style rooms. Excellent breakfast. Good pool. Overpriced restaurants. Less grand that other Taj hotels (eg. Lands End) but perhaps more comfortable.

Wonderful stay
Lovely hotel, great breakfast. Great spa facilities. Great staff. On check-in they were unaware of my booking with Agoda but explained that there was a break in communication, fortunately they had a room available.
