Lovely hotel with very helpfull staff

large rooms, well located
7.7
nice hotel with large rooms and very helpfull staff. location is interesting, sorrounded by hotels and guest houses for young travellers. it is in the middle of the bazaar, with lots of shops where to get handcraft.

small hotel with great service

great staff And excellent service

hotel is much smaller than web site makes it out to be but enjoyed my stay and the hotel staff was excellent. neighborhood at night is not for a 1st time or single femal traveler but the experienced traveling will find it on par or better than the other local hotels of the area.loved the roof top resturant. centrally located to rail and shopping and the neiborhood in the day time comes alive with local merchants working on their various crafts. i would stay there again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: As long as you have a driver or call a taxi then you will find the hotels location a great place to start your stay for attractions or night life. Not with-in walking distance to night life.

the jyoti mahal is very recommendable, middleclass with a twist. it´s in a poor area and from the street the hotel doesn´t look much. but as soon as you enter, it´s a surprisingly cozy hotel, nice rooms, very friendly service and a nice restaurent/roomservice.

It is not a hotel but a hostel;

did not see any

Even the long-duty taxi driver struggeld in finding the lane; never heard the address.
Hotel Feature Tip: Do not expect a hotel in this place; but for a hostel it is much too overpaid.

unique hotel concept

the hotel's decor definitely has character
6.3
i picked this hotel given its proximity to the train station and because it seem to have a lot of character based on Agoda's pictures. although, it proved to be difficult to find, we were definitely not disappointed. the decor is a bit over the top but that is what makes it so interesting. no facilities (i.e. pool) but it has everything you need - hot water, clean room, comfortable bed. however, i do have 1 complaint. we were taking the 6am train to Jaipur and arranged for transport to take us to the train station in the evening and was told it was fine to take a tuk tuk for Rs50-80 but when we went to the front desk at 5 am, we were informed that we need to take a taxi for Rs200. its not that much difference and we were fine taking a taxi, however, was just annoyed that we were initially misinformed.

Decent Hotel in Bad Location

Has its own charm with traditional theme and decorations. Pretty clean. Free wifi that works in the rooms.
4.7
This hotel is a refurbished shop lot with a traditional theme. The lobby is pretty nicely decorated. The rooms are quite basic but clean and the free wifi is great. There is a cool little cafe in the back. The main issue we had was the area, its located in the backpacker ghetto of Pahar Ganj. As a tourist, DO NOT go out past 11pm.

Not Worth the Price of Admission...

Interesting Location, Decent Views from the Roof Top Terrace, Rooms Somewhat Interesting
4.3
My wife and I stayed here for 7 days. This place looks nothing like the pictures and the service was subpar to say the least. In the seven days we were there, our room was cleaned twice! And one time we had to remind them! There are two people in the staff that were courteous, the rest came off very pushy. The laundry rates were very reasonable, but the wash was very random. One load we sent out wasn't really clean. The rooms were surprisingly noisy. This is not a place we'd stay at again.
Restaurant Tip: The included breakfast is only the basic breakfast. Everything else you pay for, no matter what the staff says! It was an unpleasant surprise when we were checking out!

Jyoti Mahal

Peaceful Haveli in New Delhi very close to the railway station.
9.3
We found the Jyoti Mahal very comfortable & enjoyed out short stay. The staff were extremely helpful & spoke good English, very useful as our Hindi is limited to a few essential nouns & verbs! The rooftop restaurant catered well for our needs & tea & light refreshments were served in our room by very obliging lads. We would recommend the hotel & found the area of Pahar Ganj very useful for our initial shopping before taking the train West from Delhi.
Shopping Tip: Take a walk along Pahar Ganj

Picturesque place!

Neat and clean! Perfect location, good service from all staff and; with a smile!
7.7
This is just what a westener would look for in India, The ideal picture of a Maharajas palace, the furniture, the atmosphere, you name it, and to a reasonable price! It's not a luxarious place in terms of fancy resurant, spa etc. but who needs that? If you want the right atmosphere and a safe haven while in Delhi, this is your place!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: We got a good deal for a pre-paid all day tour by a guy who turned up at the hotel, it turned out to be good value for the money if you have limited time and dont want to hassle with cab/ auto ricksaw drivers over prices!

Nice

The room was big and had a terrace and refrigerator. The bathroom was big. The decor of the lobby and halls was exotic, full of the Indian sculptures/gods.

the room at Jyoti Mahal was a pleasant surprise. It was bigger and had more furniture. The lobby was exotic and colorful and there was free use of the internet. The view from the hotel was quite ugly as there was more of an alley than a road and a lot of filth. Also, our room was not cleaned regularly. I had to find clean towels and toilet tissue on my own. In addition, the clerk at the desk did not smile or offer help. All my questions were answered grudgingly. After 2 nights we were asked to change rooms becaue they needed our twin bedded room for someone else. They had the Agoda representative come and convince me to switch by telling me some story about fixing the bathroom. In short, the hotel had potential and class
Travel tip: WE found a restaurant that sold pita bread.
