The hotel is set amidst eight acres of tamed jungle, next to Periyar Tiger Reserve and three kilometers from Thekkady. Spice Village is a retreat at which to totally unwind; there are 52 huts, complete with verandas and traditionally furnished with split bamboo and elephant grass walls, terracotta tiled floors, wooden beds and chairs but none of the trappings of hectic modern life, such as TVs or air conditioning. The swimming pool is surrounded by tropical lawns and overlooks the buffet restaurant, which serves a menu of Indian and international dishes.
