Clean, central location, friendly staff.

We chose the comfort inn grand as we were arriving into Trivandrum at 3am in the morning and needed somewhere clean and cool to sleep until check out. We arrived at 4am - the front door was wide open and the guy and reception came out to greet us. He quickly showed us to our room and fetched us a bottle of cold water. The room was simple but clean and comfy and had a ceiling fan and AC which worked well. The only thing that put us off was as soon as it got to dawn there was continual flapping and crowing from a load of crows which seemed to be roosting against the window. Breakfast and service in the dining room was OK. We asked the front desk about a transfer to the Varkala and they fetched a taxi drove from over the road and the price they quoted was actually a bit less than the prepaid counter at the airport so we were pleased about that. All in all it was fine for what we needed - we just could have done without the birds.

Not a bad choice when you are in Trivandrum. However make sure you don't get a room on the top floor because of the water problems.
