Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Not sure how anyone could like this place...
Close to ghats, doors locked, has a roof
3.3
This hotel was probably the worst we have stayed at on our 6 month trip around Asia. Although the hotel is located near the river in the old part of Varanasi, there are many, many other guesthouses that you should consider before this one. The owner/manager seemed more content to sit at his desk counting money than to be of any help to guests. Instead he has a creepy guy who sleeps on the couch take people to their rooms after the lengthy check-in process where he makes you fill out a lengthy book entry. He even argued with me that Bandhavgarh National Park (our previous location in India) was not part of India and that I was lying. I had to show him a map on my phone to make him believe me. The hotel is extremely noisy, not just from the city below, but also from the window in the bathroom that connects to your neighbor's bathroom. So you hear in all gory detail how well they handled their dinner from the night before. There is wi-fi, but it didn't work in our room and I had to go into the common areas to use it. We only spent a couple nights, but if you are coming here stay somewhere else.

Where do I begin...(see comments)
Ganges and market are both stone throws from here
6.3
first, i have to say, the staff is lovely but the hotel (particularly our room) was not. we stayed here for 9 days - our room was essentially a closet (no windows) with 2 twin beds. for the price we paid, our expectations were not so high but come to find out, we over heard on the 8th night of our stay, the room next to ours (which included a double and a twin with windows) was being offered for less than what we paid. the bottom sheet appeared clean (no top sheet included), there were several fist-sized dust balls we cleared out from under the bed, a mouse leapt over from my bed to my husbands twice during our stay that we witnessed and there was a cockroach living on top of the tv stand. monkeys also jump up and down on the corrugated roof making quite a racket at all times of the day and night so wear earplugs if you stay here. other than this, the location was perfect and this place was fully booked every night - popular among the backpacking bongo-thumping crowd. i only wish people would learn to play before they came to this sacred area.
Restaurant Tip:
Go to the Lotus (best food, reasonable prices and cleanest place in all of Varanasi)

Close location to the Ghats
6.3
Very close to the Ghats at Varanasi. Cars are not allowed near the hotel and its on a pedestrian alley close to the Ghats. So be prepared to walk 10mins from the closest area that cars can drop passengers off. Its a little bit difficult to find but most locals know where it is. The rooms are a good comfortable size with hot water showers. Friendly staff and close proximity to the Ghats is a big plus.

This hotel is hard to find, but it's realy good place to stay in Varanasi. Cheap price, free internet, friendly staff, only 2-3 minutes walking to the main ghat.

Great location, friendly staff
Location, right on the Ganges

baba guest house was clean and the staff were friendly. after two cancelled trains they found space for us on both occassions and helped us get refunds for our trains. the location is great, right next to the main ghat. the staff did everything they could to make sure we had a good stay. nothing fancy but a great clean, budget option, there was not much difference between the budget and delux options but the deluxe option that we stayed in was much more expensive.

We book the deluxe room with view of ganga's river, but we didnt get it coz it was full they said, we actually book that room just for the view, although is near main ghat ( 5min walk ) and easy to acces from munchi ghat.
room was clean and shower with hot water, Stuff is friendly and help full.
Travel tip:
I recommend to book just one night in any cheap hotel and there look for another hotel is gonna be cheaper and better.

“Nothing special -pricey for the offerings”
Close to the Ghat and reasonably close to Vishwanath temple
5.7
i went with my family. My experience is it is old building, too interior from the main road. only option is walk the last 500m from the place where cycle rickshaw will drop you. in case you choose a motorised vehicle, they are stopped 1 km before the guest house the guest house is located in a very narrow lane which was also dirty with dog and cow dungs. There is no view of ganges from the guest house rooms. to have a view of the ganges you need to climb to the terrace and further one level higher near water tank.
The rooms were old with some part of wall paints coming out. Bedsheets and bathrooms were neat and clean. The houselady was friendly. The manager/owner was indifferent. He spoke to me rudely because i was checking out 1/2 hour late. Ofcourse, he apologised subsequently. But the damage was done. The good thing is that you can keep the luggage after checkout and can use the washrooms at nominal charges. They were charging me 50% of room charge for staying for additional 4-5 hrs. so i did not choose the option and on exploring nearby i found a better guest house which charged less
Restaurant Tip:
Honestly did not taste the food in the guest house because cheaper options were available close to the guest house. specifically wish to mention the small food outlet, in the lane which leads you from the main road to guest house. It served good quality south indian tiffin items like Idli, Vada, varieties of dosa etc at very very affordable price. Forgot to note down the name. There were two such outlets. we tried in one of them.
