Beautiful hotel layout, quiet, peaceful, away from crowded places

pool too small for guests

We stayed twice at Alam Kul Kul. Both were in Alam rooms. Overall I would say our stay were convenient, comfortable and satisfying. The first time we got an Alam room on the third floor. Its just that we have a big luggage bag and we felt pity for the porter who has to bring the bag to our room. We stayed for three nights and it was satisfying. Room was cleaned everyday. Breakfast were good. The second time was for a night only and we were given room on the groundfloor. Room layout was different from the first one but the convenience was the same. Hotel environment was peaceful with many flowers and plants planted. Hotel staff were very friendly and always smiling. They always try to make you feel comfortable in hotel. Hotel is away from crowded places but still within walking distance to Kuta area. Hotel is in front of Kuta beach and you can enjoy a morning walk along the beach when there are not many people around. Overall we are very satisfied with Alam Kul Kul.

location!! the room location was perfect, right in front on the pool. the staff were great!

we wouldve loved breakfast to be included with our deal as we thought it was. and the pool open longer at night.

our first trip couldnt of been better without staying at the Alam KulKul! it was a great location. just a short walk through the beautiful gardens and across the road to the beach. walk left for 5minutes and you are in legian. walk right for only 10mins and you are in the heart of Kuta. for eating out everyday it wasnt a mission to find a great place!! make sure you get breakfast included though, we only got a voucher for one day and it was a bit of a tease as it was quite the feast! the rooms were very comfy. The only problem was that there is building going on around the hotel, its only a bit nosiey. i highly reccommend the kamar suits.

Restaurant Tip : everyone who visists bali has to go to poppies resurant in poppies lane!! but make sure you book to get the best table!!

small but nice

When we first arrived, we were surprised with the hotel layout. First we saw a restaurant, then we passed thru an arch to the lobby. Staff greeted us with smile and quickly settled our room reservations. As we walked to our room, we passed many flowers and plants and water features. It was completely different from the outside world. It was as if you are in a village. Nice quiet and peaceful. Room was comfortable. Overall we enjoyed our stay in Alam Kul Kul

Nice friendly staff. Very clean hotel and good food

Main restaurant menu

The design of over all hotel are very good. we love to spend our time on the pool side and the pool bar eventhough bali has a very good places, still we need sometime to rest and relax with no activity, just being lazy. Excellent service from all staffs and JAMU spa... ehm we would love to back for masssage and body treatment. Best locations at kuta and very close to the beach indeed very good for children. We looking forward to be back again...

Nightlife Tip : Red Square just opened close by and Hard Rock Cafe only 1km away

The Alam Kulkul Hotel is misrepresented on the website and should be avoided!!

We would like to warn people not to stay at the Alam Kulkul Hotel. It is not 4 Star (Boutique Hotel?). It's probably lucky to make 3 star!! We stayed with our two children (11 and 12) in a Family Suite. It was in a noisy three level complex, with no balcony and faced directly onto a major new high rise building. The suite was dark, dingy, musty and stunk of sewerage. We were quite shocked as we have stayed in Bali many times and this hotel is nothing like what we saw advertised on the Internet. When we spoke to Reception they offered us room freshener or the suite next door, which was even more run down and also stunk. The complex is wedged up against a brand new high rise development and the hotel street front is being dug up for more new development. The pools in the complex are run down and murky and there are not enough lounges available for people staying in the hotel. The cost of the drinks and food in the Alam KulKul is very expensive. The hotel tried to charge us for water and Fanta that we owned and failed to give us our allocated water. Staff at Papa's Cafe in the hotel were also very rude, ignoring us and putting an outside street customer before us. My sister and her partner stayed at the Alam KulKul at the same time as us. They booked a standard room and were shoved down the back of the hotel up against a very, high dark dank wall. Their room was also gloomy, dingy and run-down. When we asked for an alternative there was none available for a few days as the hotel was fully booked. The hot water doesn't work at the hotel and fluctuates between freezing cold and scalding hot. Our 11 year old caught a chill from it and was very sick on the last day of our stay. The hot water was serviced whilst we stayed at the hotel but it was still just as bad. So.........in summary stay away from the Alam KulKul. When we were called by Guest Services to check out they asked how our stay was and we mentioned all of this.

atmosphere, ambien and hotel representative are meet my expectation.

None.

The hotel atmosphere and decoration which use ambien lighting that make it count. They also have a few swimming pool more than we expect, mostly they have only 1 swimming pool per hotel, which is more comfortable and yet privacy. They also upgraded us to quad room where located on the ground floor as i was sick on my arrival. It is not bad at all. I would go back to this hotel again if i go to Bali.

absolutely can revisit it again Guest Rating: 8.3

The grounds, the staff, the location.

The walkway to the beach was underconstruction and so was the building next door. It was a little strange at times to be sitting at the main pool and have construction workers from the building next door staring down.

The grounds are simply gorgeous. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. My friends and I also enjoyed the freshly squeezed juices. The location is nice b/c it's located directly across the street from the beach, and is a short walk (even shorter taxi ride) to the main shopping and party areas.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Higher a driver to take you around to the other areas of Bali. The island has so much to offer and its fairly inexpensive to higher a driver for the day.

Nice and well decorated grounds, attention to detail, small number of guests, very friendly and helpful staff, nice dining at Papa's café, two nicely set up swimming pools, beach across the road

On both sides of the hotel were construction sites, which were a bit noisy at times; bed mattress smelled of chemicals; beach is a bit rough and dirty

It was our first holiday in Bali and we loved it!! The hotel was perfect for us, with just right amount of comfort, attention and care without exuberant prices. A bit sad that huge hotels are constructed on both sides of this little hotel, it could get crowded and noisy in future. However, I highly recommend this hotel, we will stay there again.

Shopping Tip : The craft sellers on the street are relentless and if you give them any chance they won't leave you alone. Better ignore them completely.

- quaint and traditionally Balinese surroundings

- steps to climb up to our room - internet access in room still unavailable

It's a quaint and rather traditionally Balinese hotel with lush surroundings. The quad room that we got was spacious enough for all our 'loot' from shopping! The staff was friendly and helpful. The spacious pavillion or lounge area with free internet access was our place to just unwind, snack, chit-chat and keep in touch with home and the latest news, at the end of each day:)

Nearness to the beach. Location. Lay out of property.

Rooms need improvement

A well located colorful hotel which caters to all types of tourists, whether for pleasure or business cum pleasure. The staff are pleasant and helpful, without being pushy. Internet and other facilities are a plus. Not cheap, but good value for money. It would be more attractive after the renovations are complete and all the restaurants are operative.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Easy access to restaurants and shopping in Denpasar

Room was great, cleanliness of a high standard. Staff were friendly and courteous.

Unable to use internet in our room.

Our stay at the Alam Kul Kul was great. We were treated with respect and the staff were always friendly and courteous. The pools were maintained at a high standard and so was the room. When going out at any time the security would offer to get us a taxi and would always greet us on return. It is nice to be remembered. I would recommend this resort to anyone.

Intimate, boutique hotel Peaceful & Quiet Well Located Friendly Staff Clean, renovated rooms (Lanai Room) Nice Bathroom Gorgeous gardens & surrounds

Occassional mouldy smell in room from plumbing (common in Bali) Glass wall along bathroom (Lanai Room)- fine for couples, not so good for twin-share! No DVD player in the room

The hotel staff were really friendly and happy to deliver ice to the room each night free of charge. The restaurants are a little expensive for Bali but the food was really great so I thought it was worth it. The two pools are small but I think this contributed to the intimate and relaxing atmosphere of the hotel. The Lanai rooms are renovated and open directly out to the pool area so I would recommend those over an Alam room where you cannot control the location. There was quite a lot of elderly guests there - that may be attributed to the time of year and could be a different story during school holiday periods. Easy access to shops and restaurants in Kuta and Legian - all in walking distance or a AUD$2-$5 taxi fare away. I'd stay again.A different experience to the bigger hotels in the area.

Restaurant Tip : Papa's is currently under renovation but the menu is great and the restuarant is going to look fantastic when its finished in about a month.
