Our room (alam standard) was really very spacious with a nice terrace.

Perhaps the 2 swimming pools are small but we knew from other reviews about that and we didn't care because with just 4 days in Bali we were not intended to spend a lot of our time in the hotel anyway. We had no breakfast included so we cannot comment on that.

Excellent boutique hotel. Our room (alam standard) was really very spacious with a nice terrace. The personnel always very friendly. Check-in, check-out very fast. The beach is just a few meters away, you just cross the street in front of the hotel. Fair deal with the internet. 30 mins free per day sufficient to check your emails etc. in the 2 PCs in the lobby/reception. You have to pay after that. Mosquito repeller in the room. Plants, trees, small gardens, ponds with fishes everywhere.

Shopping Tip : 2 convenience stores just a few meters away.

Style, pools, rooms, beds.

Internet connection speeds, walking distance to main shopping areas

Beautiful to look at, the presentation of the grounds and restraunts was breathtaking, value for money was self evident and the reception staff could not have been more helpful. I look forward to many future visits. I just hope they inprove their internet coverage!

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Sunset at Kuta, a must do....every night !

Excellent location across the street from the beach in Legian near Kuta. The staff was friendly and helpful. Daily 30 minute free internet is enough to keep on top of emails, more time available for a reasonable price. All the taxis know where it is located. Small, but nice spa.

Room was dark with unpleasant smell. Pools were small and too warm. Buildings and rooms in complex are packed too close together.

The Alam Kulkul Hotel was fine for my purpose, but I would not choose to stay there again. For a classy resort experience I would choose the Legian Beach Hotel and happily pay more for the more open, luxurious setting. If I was just looking for a room as a base of operation I would stay in one of the many older hotels available for $25 - $35 a night with AC, pool, and breakfast included.

Hotel Feature Tip : Use the coupon to get $20 off on a massage at the spa. Nice ambiance.

The villa we had was lovely and they included some lovely little touches as we told them it was our honeymoon. We had access to their Club Kul Kul which gave you free softdrinks between 9am-10pm and internet access etc. The staff were really trying hard to make your stay pleasant and they had a free cocktail hour and gave away prizes during this.

It is next to 2 building sites (although the noise was minimal in our room). It is also a little further away from the action than some might prefer.

The staff are trying really hard to compensate for the building work and the room and place in general was very nice. The free cocktail hour that was on while we were there was a bonus. It is further away from the action than some might like and there are a limited number of restaurants. However, taxi's are cheap and you can walk as you're not talking miles so it's not a major issue.

The buffet breakfast and the staff. Loved the access to the Alum Club where it was cool, quiet and calm

The open bathroom as you couldn't sit on the toilet without getting bitten by mosquitos. The bathtub that was so hard we couldn't sit in it, the shower that was over the steep inground bathtub and leaked water into the toilet and change area.

For the price we paid for the Allum Villa I was disappointed as it was on the main walkway - our friends were in a Lania Room which was at least $60 US$$ less and in a quieter area with a much better bathroom with a spa bath. The hotel lobby & entrance were beautifully presented with excellent helpful staff. Would stay again but not in a Villa

Travel tip : Walking distance to Poppies 1 and 2 and there is a major Discovery complex going up next door - bit noisy while building in process

Quaint and charming rooms Lovely restaurant Reasonable price

First room we were assigned was at the back and had a damp smell to it, although the staff were happy to move us when we informed them. The subsiquent room was lovely

Enjoyed our stay, staff were lovely and the rooms were clean and nice. Would stay again.

Staff were so friendly and helpful.

Prices a little expensive at Pool Bar.

Had a great 5 days at Alam Kulkul we were in an Alam Villa which was fantastic, great outdoor bathroom, room was very clean. Staff at the hotel were wonderful so friendly. My husband's birthday was whilst we were away and they surprised us at breakfast with a birthday cake and sang happy birthday (we did not tell them it was his birthday they must of read it off the passport)Grounds are beautiful. Would definately recommend it.

Travel tip : Didnt realise until last day you can order a cab with a meter at the hotel, they make a note of the cab that comes just in case you have any problems leave anything in it ect.

Location- close to beach and shopping. The feeling at the hotel.

Breakfeast is mostly minded on locals. The rooms are to noisy.

I have now stayed at the hotel 4 times during the last 7 years, and was a bit worried that it would feel old and run down by now, but as it happen then they have just been renovating, so that was a nice surprise. In addition, I have to say that the location is almost perfect, just across the road you have the beach, and within a few hundred meters you have plenty of shopping.

Near the beach

the room a bit old

the location of Alam Kulkul Hotel is good as just the opposite side of Kuta Beach, just need walk about 10 mins to shopping area, but traffic jam all the time, as I think by walking is much more better, as price is reasonable with such nice location, but the room really a bit old and some towel already in yellow color.

great staff, understated reception, good room attendants

small pools, breakfast buffet not great, room service menu very limitied

overall I would give it a 7.5 out of ten. really nice staff and I liked the fact that it was spread out over the property and not a big, high rise property. understated and that is charming.

Beautiful layout of Lanai room, big bed, TV and huge marble tub; garden pool right outside out door. Set far back from the street and can't see the construction going on.

Breakfast was dear ($15USD)but good.

We went for our 20th anniversary and it was a great place to stay for romance; not too many children at all and the staff certainly looked after us. Presented us with a cake on the special night, then the next day they filled our bath and make a beautiful heart out of rose petals and frangipanis.

Shopping Tip : Get a taxi & have him take you to Geneva Handicraft Centre; shopping for wooden items, jewellery and such is much better value than bargaining; all set pricing.

The staff go out of their way to be helpful and are unfailingly polite and friendly. The family rooms are spacious.

There was a pervasive sewerage smell around the back of the hotel. Our first room looked out onto a brick wall and was dank, musty and dark. The next room in the family wing was on the ground floor, and we couldn't sleep at night because the occupants of the room above us (mum, dad and 2 teenagers)stomped around the floor until 3am, keeping us awake. the final room on the top floor was quieter, but because of the gap below the door, there was a lot of noise from people talking / walking in the corridor.

The smell needs to be attended to - this was a problem identified on other travel review ebsites for the past couple of years. I cut my foot on a piece of glass by the pool - it clearly hadn't been hosed or swept for months. The family block of rooms is very noisy from people walking through the corridors as well as poor soundproofing between floors (it sounded like we had a family of elephants living above us). The hotel's restuarant Papa's cafe (Italian) with a large deck overlooking the ocean is worth a meal - the food was excellent, and the service very professional.

Restaurant Tip : Good restaurants around the corner in Jalan Melasti.
