Room was great, cleanliness of a high standard. Staff were friendly and courteous.
Unable to use internet in our room.
Our stay at the Alam Kul Kul was great. We were treated with respect and the staff were always friendly and courteous. The pools were maintained at a high standard and so was the room. When going out at any time the security would offer to get us a taxi and would always greet us on return. It is nice to be remembered. I would recommend this resort to anyone.

Intimate, boutique hotel
Peaceful & Quiet
Well Located
Friendly Staff
Clean, renovated rooms (Lanai Room)
Nice Bathroom
Gorgeous gardens & surrounds
Occassional mouldy smell in room from plumbing (common in Bali)
Glass wall along bathroom (Lanai Room)- fine for couples, not so good for twin-share!
No DVD player in the room
The hotel staff were really friendly and happy to deliver ice to the room each night free of charge. The restaurants are a little expensive for Bali but the food was really great so I thought it was worth it. The two pools are small but I think this contributed to the intimate and relaxing atmosphere of the hotel. The Lanai rooms are renovated and open directly out to the pool area so I would recommend those over an Alam room where you cannot control the location. There was quite a lot of elderly guests there - that may be attributed to the time of year and could be a different story during school holiday periods. Easy access to shops and restaurants in Kuta and Legian - all in walking distance or a AUD$2-$5 taxi fare away. I'd stay again.A different experience to the bigger hotels in the area.
Restaurant Tip : Papa's is currently under renovation but the menu is great and the restuarant is going to look fantastic when its finished in about a month.

It is a secured building just across from the beach. Quiet in the hotel despite its location on a busy street.
No internet in the room. The room is quite ordinary and the house keeping is below average.
I will not choose this hotel again. The room is ok and the mattress is really bad. It is cheap springy type and very uncomfortable. The only thing that is edible on the fuit plate given on the first day is the banana. Everything else is very showy and superficial. The housekeeper didn't even clean the bathtub when it is clearly dirty. It is especially bad when you can only surf net at the reception area. They charged USD$15 for lousy breakfast buffet. Hotel staff is friendly but it doesn't make up for other shortfalls. The kuta beach has nice waves but it is hard to feel peace when 6-7 locals trying to sell you everything from massage to jewelry at an exorbitant price and you really have to be brutal to get rid of them. We were so annoyed by them that ended up avoiding the beach altogether....
Restaurant Tip : If you want to avoid the morning lousy breakfast... you can walk towards Legian street and there are restaurants which opens at 8am onwards. You will have better selection and certainly USD$15 will be enough for a party of 4+

I really loved the friendly staff, soft bed's, free massage and drink. Along with the beautiful ground's. I also liked the fact that in the evening the staff would come in and turn your light's on, close the shades and turn down your bed!
I think the staff at the hotel restaurant's need to be a little more attentive to the customer's and it would be great to have a safe in every room rather then having to go to a central area which IS open 24 hour's, but you constantly have to sign in and out. The only private safes are in the villa's.
The hotel staff was wonderful! The grounds were absolutely beautiful and I LOVED the soft bed's. The hotel had a lot of activities to keep you busy if you wanted to be. I also loved the style of my room. I traveled alone, but felt very safe and comfortable there. I had friend's who came later on and I spent a fraction of what they spent on their hotel room's and I came out much better then they did!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : For about $50.00, you can hire a private driver to take you sightseeing! It was so worth it and I spent 11 1/2 hours with this person who really watched out for me! Also, each time I crossed the tiny little street to go to the beach, the hotel security guard would escort me!

Central location - safe as an alone female traveller (Kuta hub is a walk away and great shopping near by)
The staff are very friendly and willing to please.
Yummy food, reasonable prices at Pappa's Restaurant.
Not too busy with holiday makers at the time - both pools were nice and quiet!!!
Very comfy beds!!!
Price wise - (although not too expensive), with the price we paid for an upgraded ' Villa' room, the tv and the room needed a little update/ modernising.
The initial room booked (using agoda) was at the back of the resort with no view or clear windows to look out. The upgrade that incured further charges was a great and recommended improvement!!
For people wanting a moderately cheap holiday, without compromising on cleanliness/ comfort etc. Alam Kul Kul is not a bad option.
For the price paid initially (basic room)it wasn't too bad for people on a budget.
An upgrade to the pool view room with new flat screen tv and large bathroom is advisable (I did this too)
Otherwise, the villas with the outdor bath/ shower and 4 poster bed is quite luxurious - though a little tired.
Shopping Tip : The shopping is fabulous along the Seminyak/ Legian strip, but be careful .... there are cheaper shops offering the same stock further down the road towards Alam Kul Kul!
Carla Spa down the road is a very handy and extremely cheap beauty spot.

The best feature of the hotel was Papas Cafe, which was excellent.
The room was not up to standard for the price paid. I have stayed in better rooms at budget hotels. The bathroom needs upgrading, the walls had mold on them and the basin was blocked.
I was disappointed with the Alam Kul Kul's rooms, expecting a superior room for the money paid. I have stayed in several other cheaper hotels with better rooms than the Alam Kul Kul's rooms. The bathroom, whilst well stocked, showed mold on the walls and the basin sink was blocked. The location of the hotel is good and it was nice and quiet and on a good section of the beach. The best thing about the hotel was Papas Cafe which was really excellent including the staff. Also I woke with large bites on my head not sure what from, maybe ants, maybe some kind of insect in the bed's headboard.

Size - small, location, staff
The hotel is quite small and very attractive setting. The 2 pools are lovely. Enough lounges by the pool. Staff very nice, helpful and friendly. Buffet breakfast beautiful. The location is good, shopping, cafes close by and about 20 mins walk to busy part of Kuta. Beach opposite and easy to cross road. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the hotel and would definately stay again.
Shopping Tip : Be very careful of money changers in Jalan Measti. Most no problem, but 1 tried to rip me off by 300,000 ruphiah - still not sure how he managed to short change me as I was not aware of taking my eyes off the money. Handed the 300,000 over to me when I went back after counting the money at the hotel and told him he had stolen 300,000 rupiah from me - so happy ending.

Breakfast is beautiful, with a wide range of quality foods provided (especially the pastries) and good coffee. The grounds are well tended and very relaxing, as are the pools. Room service is efficient and food tasty.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Hire a driver and car for the day and take off for the hills. The rice fields are so beautiful and not to be missed.

staff very nice and efficient, convenient location opposite the beach and minutes from the craft market and shops but still very quiet. Avoid rooms overlooking the pools quite noisy because of the fact that some clients do not meet the schedule for closing the latter. I have not had the opportunity to try the breakfast (not included!) Or the kitchen, but the ocean view from the restaurant is quite nice.

near Kuta beach for surfing
The hotel is located in unattractive. The family room is located on the floor of a building without order and without access to the garden. Green spaces around the buildings are very cramped. The place lacks charm. Buffet breakfast not included in the room rate is expensive given the prices in restaurants around.
Hotel Feature Tip : following haven hotel in Semyniak

Location, part of the hotel
Construction of another hotel across the street here
Very nice hotel facing the beach of Legian, near Kuta. We played a triple room, very spacious and pleasant. Bathroom nice and relatively spacious. Piscine de tres correct size free Internet access in the lobby. We have taken n no meals therefore impossible to give an opinion. Just the road by the sea to cross to be on the beach. Restaurants, shops are within a fifteen minute walk. Work in front of the hotel (construction), but not too annoying.
