agood stay at Bakung Beach hotel.
Clean, near the beach, near the centre

Security is ok, it is near the Kuta beach about 5 minute walk, the Kuta center around 7 minute and massage centre around 5 minutes. If you take for a walk to legian beach, it wil take 25 minute. Its about 40 minute to Denpasar by taxi. Its surrounding is quite good anyway.

10 mins from the airport but you would not know it, no air traffic noise at all

The breakfast taste great and the location is peaceful with a lot of shops including 24 hrs mart which very convenient. It is also near to taxi stand. The hotel staff are very helpful, specially if you are first time visiting, a lot of information can be share!

Don't expect too much luxary, but basic things are OK, in this clean and safe hotel. Location is great, in South Kuta where it's less crowded. Only 200 meters from the beach, the great beach restaurant Pantai. Also less then 10 minutes to the airport.

Good basic hotel for budget conscious travellers

we have stayed at bakung beach cottages almost every year for the past 15 years or so and keep coming back, in spite of often talking about a change of location. though this is a two star hotel, as reflected in such things as the rather basic breakfast and the lack of some of the amenities more commonly found in hotels with a higher star rating, and though the word 'cottages' is misleading as there aren't any, the lovely garden setting, nice clean pool, handy location and friendly staff (many of whom were already there the first time we stayed here)all add value. the restaurant also serves good-value meals.
the hotel is slowly being renovated with the renovated rooms and bathrooms being quite large and all having verandas. the rooms are clean, the ac works ok, as does the small fridge and on our last day we returned to find the old style tv had been replaced with a modern slimline wall unit. this year we also found that wifi has newly been installed. like us, many of the other guests return every year, some for months at a time, and over the years we have come to know quite a few.
a disadvantage at present is the noise from the site next door where a large hotel/shopping area is being built and which continues till quite late at night (as well as, to a lesser extent, the noise from the renovations at bakung beach itself). still, these may be completed next year so, who knows, we may again be back.
