Entrance, warmth of the people on reception, lobby area, gardens and landscaping around the rooms Rooms are decidedly tired, need fixing in parts and updating in others. We arrived at Bale Villa Agung at night to a warm and friendly reception. The room we were given was adequate, quiet and overlooking the distant rice paddies — a nice surprise given that the hotel's so close to the shopping areas of Seminyak and Legian. Pool chairs OK (not enough); wifi worked well; breakfast was good - enough and variety good.
Restaurant Tip : If you can get to Ultimo Restaurant in Seminyak...well worth the trip. Bookings on busy days highly recommended.

It's affordable, well placed Our room was mouldy and dark. The towels were marked and had holes. We may have had the dud room - we were only there for one night - but we were really disappointed with it. We're not the sort of people who go to Bali to stay in their rooms but even this level of grot was not nice. We arrived late at night exhausted and were leaving the next day so we didn't ask to change rooms but suffice to say my partner didn't even shower because the bathroom looked so disgusting. The air-con was feeble and loud too. That said, the grounds were well kept, the pool area was good and breakfast OK. So it might just have been our room. Also, as is common in Bali, we ended up haggling with reception over a transfer to another part of Bali. The hotel quote was 150,000 rp over a quote from a driver outside the grounds. They quickly matched that price though.

Quiet, friendly and very relaxing. Traditional Balinese style of building. Hotel becoming a little tired. One of the best hotels I have stayed in. it's not about being high class, it's the ambience that gives the quality and this place comes up with the goods!
Travel tip : close to the beach. Easy access to the west coast of Bali
