Lovely room fine location for us but not for all
Lovely large room with large fridge
7
nice hotel in a backstreet location, good for fit people who dont mind a walk to the main parts of town, not that far just about 5-10i minutes depending on what route you take. there is also a shuttle bus who will pretty much drop you off where ever in kuta. breakfast has a large variety to chose from but when there is large groups with the convention centre can be very frantic and difficult to get a table. the spa was expensive comparing it to other spa facilities in the town. the happy hour in the pool was lovely and the pool area was nice and quiet during the day. staff were helpful if not a little slow from time to time, but its bali time. the room was cleaned promptly each day.
Restaurant Tip:
Un's restaurant was lovely just off Poppies I and Kori was also nice in Poppies II.

Bad location, old hotel falling apart
3.3
Built in the middle of no-where and a very long hike from Jalan Legian or beach. Hotel must be pretty decent 10 years ago but edges of old age are showing everywhere. Apart from the usual leaking AC, mouldy bathroom and wifi that doesnt work, the pool is also filthy. Breakfast still manages to be decent and the staff are still all smiles.

location is not bad. 10 minutes walking to Legian. bed sheets are clean enough but they don't change if no request. towels are very bad. bad breakfast. other swiss-belhotels in other towns are better.
Nightlife Tip:
near legian but no night life inside hotel itself

Nice Hotel but need some renovation.
7.3
bkr is a nice hotel with a great service. i booked a deluxe pool view room. the room was clean, spacious enough for both of us. the staff managed to accommodate my request although its already 10 pm. breakfast varies from indonesian to western. egg station is my favourite, request for an ommelete with extra mushroom and cheese filling also on top of it.

great location, but do not rent their cars!
clean room, friendly staff, very good cleaning services, good location

stayed in this hotel for 5 days in march 2012. hotel is quite near the airport, about 15min taxi drive. we arrived too early for check-in, so we left our bags with the counter and explored the area around the hotel. there is a supermarket near the hotel, many shops selling traditional food and accessories down the road from the hotel. service by the staff is generally good and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. they also have a counter at the lobby that provides packages for many activities like white water rafting, elephant ride etc. rooms are also very clean, albeit a bit small and dim, but it is still worth the value that you are paying.
however, beware of the drivers from the hotel that will approach you to ask if any car rental services are required! they are usually wayyy over priced, and even if you bargain, it will not be as cheap as if you take the blue bird taxis. out of all the taxi companies in bali, the blue bird taxis are the only ones that use meters and will not overcharge you. so if you are going somewhere around 20-30min drive away from the hotel, i would adivse you never to accept the car rental services from the hotel.
otherwise, the stay in this hotel is really pleasant, and i've got to say the location is one of the best for tourists as it is near kuta beach and have many eateries within walking distance from the hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
if you want to tour around bali for one day, it is cheaper if you hire a driver for a day who will bring you to anywhere around bali. i strongly recommend mr ketut, who is really friendly and sincere. you can view his website at
