Pools. Rooms large. Convenient for the airport. Central Kuta(if you consider that a plus). Cost.

Room needed redecoration, a good clean and more electric sockets. Reasonable price (especially with Agoda booking).

Close to airport (1/2 hr or less) and in central Kuta (if you consider that a plus). The best and probably only outstanding feature of this hotel is its pool - two pools in fact! Open 24 hrs and large. Provides a real oasis in the heat and frantic life of Kuta. If that's what your looking for then this hotel would be ideal for you. Rooms: Only one electric socket in the room available for charging mobiles etc and that was the one used by the fridge. No coffee making facilities. Rooms a little grimy and in need of some redecoration. I would look around other hotels if returning, but would be happy to stay here again.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Don't miss Kuta beach at sunset and bring your camera. Pura Tanah Lot is a must and also Uluwatu, but watch your sunglasses here. The monkeys appear from nowhere and rip them off your ears (I wondered if a few locals train them to do this. There always seems to be someone ready to retrieve them for you at a cost - 50,000 Rp) When you walk along the cliff top take a twig from the bushes to wave off the monkeys - but don't let me put you off, they are not aggressive, just a bunch of thieves.

You get what you pay for ! Guest Rating: 5

Friendly staff, especially at reception. Tropical garden surroundings. Rooms clean. Back pool area was great (during the day).

Hard bed & pillows, old tv's and poor reception, no english channels. Hotel desperately needs a facelift. Very noisy at night. Some staff try to sell various items and strongly recommend you visit their relatives'restaurants at Jimbaran Bay whilst you are trying to eat breakfast.

Having stayed in Poppies 2 at least 4 times previously (The Bounty) and in Bali a total of 9 times, I thought this would be a great choice as I had read all the reviews which appeared favourable. Given that the rate was reasonable, decided to give it a go. From the moment you walk onto Poppies Lane the hagglers begin to harass and it's like stepping into another world. Forgot how busy and narrow the lane is, barely enough room for all the cars, bikes and pedestrians to share, occasionally the motor bikes share the narrow pedestrian strip which is decaying more each visit. Very run down in this area. Pool area at night extremely noisy and this was not in high season. Drinks and food a little expensive given the quality of the food. Overall, the staff were polite and good natured and rooms clean, however, we will not be returning to this hotel. In fact, will stay out of Kuta altogether. No money is being spent on infrastructure.

Nightlife Tip : For all AFL and NRL Footy fans, Kuta Townhouses located in Jalan Pasar Agung (between Poppies 1 & Poppies 2, adjacent to Bagus Pub) have an AFL Bar and NRL Bar, very modern with Plasma TV's etc. Great pub atmosphere. Cheap beer and local and Aussie cuisine.

cheap, great staff, great location! Guest Rating: 8.7

location, pool, staff

hustle and bustle in poppies lane but you find your own way of dealing with it!

This hotel only cost us about $60NZD per night for 2 which was a bargain for the location and facilities. The room is very basic but for the price can be justified! I would recommend this hotel for the start of your stay in bali as the location is unbeatable. You can experience great food and hawkers right on poppies lane and Barong is only a very short stroll to the beach.

Shopping Tip : On Poppies Lane just past Bounty hotel there is a great salon where pedicure/manicures are done very professionally and only 25,000 IDR.
