Conrad Bali Resort & Spa, Bali

The title sums it up. The Conrad is very lovely. Beautiful lobby, pool area, rooms. All this comes at a very high price. This is an expensive hotel and everything is expensive - the food, drinks, internet (30 USD per day - highest I've ever seen). The staff are absolutely ineffective, slow, incompetent; just useless. Especially at the concierge desk, but really overall. The first answer you get is a "no" or "can't". Maybe this is a bit in the culture, but I would expect the staff of a 5-star hotel to be better trained and try harder. The beach in front of the Conrad was the biggest disappointment. It's narrow and dirty. Literally no one sits on the beach. There are a few chairs total and no one uses them. You cannot swim in the sea because it's dirty and very shallow. Basically, don't expect a beach. On top of that, there are many many jetskiers in the water, which is annoying because they are loud. The Conrad is beautiful, but I would go back again only if it was transplanted to a different beach and re-staffed. Bottom line - I don't recommend it.

The hotel layout is woderful, international yet with a local touch. I am very particular about hotel room and was quite happy with the room given to us. Spacious, comfortable and most importantly, the housekeeping has done a good job of keeping the room clean and tidy twice a day. The grill lobster served in the beachside outlet -Eight Degrees South is wonderful and price is reasonable. I like the pool near the club room suits, quiet and beautiful. The popular Infinity (little white church for wedding) is just next to our block, it's floating on water with views of the Indian ocean, breathtakig!
