difficult to access the town independently, but not really a con as the hotel surrounds are so lovely
closer smaller (and cheapest) villas have less privacy with open windows - could add more greenery around them
We stayed at Damai for four days on our honeymoon and it was just lovely. We normally backpack and this was such a change of scenery for us. We thought we may be bored with 4 days lazing around Damai villas - how wrong we were.
Sitting by the pool is so relaxing with the view and the atmosphere at night with candles and a small fire and soft beanbags.
The gardens are so lush and well maintained - great mangos and other fresh food that is grown onsite.
We highly recommend the market tour and cooking lesson with chef Ketut - a highlight of our stay, and the food at the restaurant. It was both traditional and innovative and there is a changing 3 course menu every night. Breakfast is lovely too! Loved the fresh fruit and all the small touches.

Ideally located in the Lovina Area. Lovely architecture, indonesial style furniture. Food absolutely fabulous. Many details of the quality in attending the clients like offer free shuttle to lovina at any time of the day. Balinese deserts offered in the evening in the room ( delicious. Fresh basket of tropical fruits Offered every day.( with research in presentation ). water bottles = beyond the needs. Bathroom products really luxous ones. And above all the welcoming the attending was always ( and by everybody in the Damai, absolutly wonderful and what is not always the case genuine.
Really nothing to tell for the cons. The only thing I could tell is about Lovina which is a little town without many charms, many things to visit.. The beach is not really beautiful. But this is not cons on Damai !!
I would just make real good publicity on this hotel. It was hard to leave them. It is what we can expect from a luxuous hotel. It is not "bling bling " it is authentic. You just feel like you were in a house, there your are a house guest. The swimming pool is a little small, but so wonderful when you are inside or just having some sun bathing, and the view is incredible. People there call you by your name, they smile at you just like friends. And the food is what we call in France really " de la gastronomie ".
Restaurant Tip : if you really want to have good authentic indonesian food, just go there.
