free motornike, quiet, friendly host
7.7
A very nice stay, the dana guesthouse is the place to be if you want to escape the noise and pushy salesmen from kuta, with the free motorbike you can go surfing in echo/kuta, explore the area, even visit kuta or places even further. Very nice host, wifi is ok, good warungs in the area.

Please do not stay here
Free scooter hire the guy running it was nice
2.7
This guest room was extremely hard to find, the taxi driver stopped to ask directions several times it was only by chance that he asked someone that worked there, the place was down a small road and then another small road. The pictures were nothing like it is,we got in to the room an there were more Mosquitos than ive seen backpacking through the whole of Bali and s.e Asia. The room was dark and dingy, the bathroom was appalling there was no sink the state of it was disgusting,I tried to hold off using it. there was no hot water, the roof to the room was straw so I'm guessing that's where the rat came from who peered his head under the slot of the bathroom door. The bed was also as groce the pillows and mattress stank of mould.
I don't know why anyone would stay here as the location isnt near anything important. The day we got there we wanted to get food, we asked somebody else who was staying there they replied it isn't near any restaurant apart from a tiny one which is ok.
For the price we paid which to be fair was cheap we have stayed in far better. The guy who looked after the place was friendly and helpful.

Chill place bit out of the way
Big bed, air con, relaxed atmosphere
5.3
I enjoyed staying here because it was quite a good spot for me to get some study done. It was fairly quiet except on the occasions when some pretty crap music was played through the speakers. The bed was comfortable and there was space to put clothes etc. Only five rooms in the place, it felt quite secure. The main down side to this place is that it is kind of in a hidden area, so that if you order food or a taxi, they will often have difficulty finding the place. There is only one restaurant within short walking distance, which is okay, but I preferred to have food delivered if I was working at home which can get quite expensive. If you don't drive a scooter this place can be really quite expensive and inconvenient. The staff are quite slow at getting breakfast out in the mornings and there was one time when I wanted to be somewhere by 9am and missed the chance because I was waiting for my breakfast. But also as long as the staff are there they will make your breakfast (omelette and two pieces of white bread with tomato sauce and a plate of watermelon) at any time of the day - I once asked Putu to make it for me at 6pm which he did. The fridge is handy for leaving food and drinks in. The coffee is really tasty but may I suggest a herbal tea, and also perhaps wholemeal bread or do away with the bread altogether and just have a vegetable omelette. This is the most expensive place I have ever paid to stay in in Bali, and I felt a bit like I was paying more than it was worth. My toilet paper was never replenished and it is about a fifteen minute walk to the Alfa Mart past lots of dogs. The staff are cool though.
Hotel Feature Tip:
If you have to walk to the main street carry a big stick with you to threaten the dogs with. I never had a dog there actually attack me but they were pretty scary in a pack of like 6 all growling and approaching you at once. Also you will like to have a phone, you can buy one on the way to the Alfa Mart - don't buy Cross, it's crap - so that you can call the staff if you need them when they are not there, which is fairly regularly.
